Why are fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer so annoying?

Just wondering

I've never been a fan of the show(Just Kevin Williamson-esque boring Teen drama with some poor special effects mixed in) mainly because I'm too attached to the movie version.

But for some reason whenever I hear fans talk about the show they piss me off more than, say, Dawson's Creek fans.

Same goes for Sex and the City.

Maybe it's because you don't like the show and are attached to the movie version. Since you have an attachment to the movie version, and the show deviates so far from that, it's irritating to hear about it. I don't know. I'm not a psychologist. I just practice illegally on the side for drug money.

Ha ha. Just kidding. I don't do drugs.

Maybe it's just cuz you're a crotchety bitch... errr... bastard. Sorry.

I thought about that, but no, it has nothing to do with the show. I dislike the show, I don't watch it. The same goes with dozens of other shows. Its the fans.

No, that's a reasonable conclusion to draw from the occurence but it doesn't explain it.

See, I don't care much for most fans, period. Hell, I like the show, and there are only a few people I like to talk to about it. Same goes for everything else I like. It's just a personality thing.

Example: I like online gaming. I've been doing it for years. Love it. Will probably be doing it for as long as it's around. There are some folks I love to talk to about it. Then there are some who grate on my nerves. It's the way they talk about it.

No, I think it's something special to these fans.

I think I know what it is. Hold up though.

its the Friends and ER fans that drag my nerves across the grater.

I must agree with you on this. I have had people in my classes that wouldn't take a night class on Thursday nights because they couldn't miss those two shows. It's so silly to arrange your life and possible career around television shows.

Sure but they mainly keep to themselves don't they?

I've never heard anyone talk about the comparative genius of "Friends"

Well, outside the cast themselves.

I did some work on a show a couple of years back ("Nothing Sacred") and had to work with some extras who have been doing Atmosphere on Buffy for years (you know, the kids in the school hallway in the background, that sort of thing). They were the geekiest most annoying kids I've ever met. All they could talk about was how cool Buffy was, and they thought of themselves as actual actors on the show, with, like, names and plot lines. Deluded freaks.

(Also on that gig I worked with the woman you see behind the cash register of the coffee shop in every Seinfeld episode. She, too, felt she was another character on the show. People who do extra work are weird.)

Buffy RULES!!!!!!!!!!

Ok. I've never seen an episode.

ditto. I don't particularly care for it, so I don't watch it.

Shouldn't the question be -

Why IS Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.[1 Corinthians, 13]

I don't watch childrens television therefore have never seen an episode!

Buffy sucks. It speaks volumes about anyone that's an obsessed "fan."

Where are all the "Samford and Son" freaks out there? You big dummies...
