I bought a wireless keyboard. No more frigging wires. It's so quiet I feel like I'm riding on a cloud.

Must be the meds.

I 'll email them to you. Open your mouth and say ahhhhh.

shoot, that ain't nuthin'. i've got a clueless keyboard. it misspells words, uses bad grammer, hasn't got any idea about punctuation and uses those little ...............things that everybody seems to hate.

and i'll bet mine was cheaper than yours..

I think quite few people around here have one of those models..

Now for the big question.

Does it work?

I have thought about getting both the keyboard and mouse without wires. I hate wires! But I don't trust them yet, too new. How do you feel about it so far miles, really?

That's why I asked about RF or IR linking. WebTV uses an IR linked keyboard, and it's a real pain becuase it has to have a clear, direct line of sight to work -- just like a remote control does.

The RF (radio Frequency) link isn't dependent on line of sight, and unless you happen to have a cordless phone or other device using the same frequency range should be very reliable and efficient.

So if I went shopping I should at least be looking for the 'RF' stuff. Plus my current desktop doesn't have an IR port, my laptop does...

So much to know.

No wonder I am always watching Tech TV.

I haven't dealt with the "IR port" capability at all, so I don't know if that's what an IR keyboard would use -- from what little I know, I don't think so. The "IR port" seems to be an auxiliary serial port for devices like docking stations and PDAs.

A "cordless" keyboard plugs into the keyboard port -- at least the few I've looked at do. Other "cordless" devices plug into the USB interface.

I know it seems silly to talk about where "cordless: devices plug in, but they're only cordless between the device and it's dedicated receiver, which plugs into the computer.

If I were going to spend money for cutting edge RF linked stuff, I'd look for "Spread Spectrum" devices in either the 900 MHz or GHz frequency range -- very similar to the technology of newer cordless phones.
