Following the suggestion of another Literotica author, I did a Google search of my screen name and story titles. I found one of my stories posted at this URL:

http://www.markscorner.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=index&sid=5d6582bdefc72285d84a4bd560885e6e

(If specific page does not load click on CameltoeCorner.com Forum Index)

As it was apparent that there were at least 20 other Literotica stories posted in the Gay Male section alone, I ventured into the other categories where I found dozens of stolen Literotica stories.

I wrote to the site administrator, and Laurel said she would as well. Laurel emphasized that this site did not have permission to repost Literotica stories. My story has since been removed but dozens, perhaps hundreds, of Literotica stories still remain on the site.

I would suggest that all authors go to this site and, if you find you stories posted therein, you write to both Laurel and the administrator of this site.

Ummm.... Ok. Yeah. And there have been four other threads that warned of the same thing.

Well gee. Sorry Dranoel. My bad....I guess??

I have seen other posts concerning Literotica stories on other sites, but none specifically mentioning the site in question or this volume of story theft.

As I am new to the discussion board, perhaps they dropped off before I joined the board.

According to email I have received from the owner of the site in question, he has never received a request for removal of a story before mine. If his claims are true, this would lead me to believe that most Literotica authors were unaware their stories were being posted on that site.

Had I found any thread specifically mentioning this site, I would have posted on that thread rather than creating another.

Well, Dran might have been cracking on ya, but he might also just be making a comment on how common it is becoming...

thanks for the heads up...

In the lesbian category my story Blackout appears. One of abs's stories is also posted there.

I didn't see anyohne else's work I recognize.

It's almost impossible for me to do a google search with my user name - how many fricken' results would I come up with, ya know?

Hopefully, if anyone was to see something of mine somewhere else they'd let me know - I hope.

To clarify this a little bit:

Laurel update me on the status of the defunct "story of the day" program Lit tested a couple of years ago.

At this time and for the forseeable future Literotica does NOT permit any other site to use Literotica stories.

If you encounter anything other than a LINK back to Literotica PM the author of the story. If it's your story, complainto the site operator that the story was posted without permission and notify Laurel with the particulars so she can follow up on it.

For authors like Cloudy who have common terms as a pen-name, embed a unique or odd word or phrase or two in your stories to make them searchable.

Laurel tells me that this is becoming a huge problem for all of the legitmate story site because the theives are using scripts that grab stories from Literotica, ASSTR, and other sites and re-post them so they show up on the search engines to draw customers.

This isn't something that Laurel and Literotica can fight alone, so policing your own stories is pretty much the best defense.

Thanks Weird Harold.

These are exactly the words Laurel used in her response to me.

I am also a member of other sites, like RedClouds, wherein members post their own amateur/voyeur photos. This has become a monumental problem for them as well.

As photos don't have searchable text, many members have started posting visible, or digital, watermarks on their images. Still, these are easily removable with imaging software though most picture thiefs don't even bother. As Harold said, it is up to the individual contributor to police their own posts by checking for them on other sites or even the newsgroups.

I just tried searching and when I try to get into any of the story sections a message saying, "Sorry this module is 'closed or not working or down'... " something like that.

How'd you guys search your stories out?

~lucky

I got the same results as you, they're probably getting bombed by Lit people trying to see if their stories are there.

Sailor

(Still a fan of "Behind Blue Eyes", by the way)

In light of the fact that most of the forum seemed to be comprised of stories stolen from Literotica, including the section titles, maybe they took the whole thing down.

Wonder if they're gonna make it right or just keep it down till they think this has blown over.

I see where you folks were looking. The Literotica stories weren't posted under the Erotic Stories section of this site in question but in the Erotic Forums.

Maybe the site owner is cleaning house. I suppose we'll see tomorrow.

Sorry to reply to myself again, but this was just posted on the site's home page:

http://www.markscorner.com/index.php

"NOTICE PLEASE READ: FORUMS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

PLEASE READ: I have had some illegal posts
in the forums. THE FORUMS WILL BE CLOSED
until I can get the stories sorted out. This could take
some time to figure out so please have patients it is
not perminent. In the meentime take advantage of
our new Thumnail Gallery Click Here "

The spelling is exaclty as it came from the site. Somehow, I don't think "Mark Bitton", who represented himself as the site owner, specializes in literature.

I am the site owner

It is "My Bad" for not haveing tighter reins on what got posted
on my site except spam. I dont know what stories belong to
you folks and what ones dont. I have closed my forum board
until I can figure out what came from where or who. The two
following urls are in fact mine and are two seperate sites
connected to the same database so what gets posted in one
gets posted in both including users and passwords.
http://www.markscorner.com/index.php
http://www.cameltoecorner.com/index.php
They are both free sites mabee too free allowing uregestered
users to post whatever they wanted. Again "My Bad"
I run a new TGP at the cameltoecorner domain and have kinda
let my forum board be neglected.... All in All I take full
responsibility for not being more strict about what got posted.
I dont think any harm was intended by the poster as near as
I can tell alot of the stories were posted with the copyright
still in tact, why I dont know! Respect mabee.
So here I am the bad guy of the day here to take whats
comming to me I guess I deserve it!!!!
I run a clean site and I am really a great guy I just hope you
all will forgive my ignorance and accept my apologey. I had
someone post 53 stories in one night and instead of me looking
into it I thought to myself RIGHT ON! again MY BAD.

And for all it is worth you guys and gals you got an art like no
other and about 85% of all my traffic was reading your stories
not the thousands of galleries I got.
Please feel free to contact me if you feel like giving me the third
degree or whatevers on your mind, I deserve it.
Again sorry
Mark

You are 100% right I dont specialize in literature. I wouldnt
even have the forum board if it hadnt come with the web
software I am using...

I just wish the deliberate story thieves would be as accomodating.

I am with Weird Harold.

Thanks for owning up to your mistakes Marks Corner, I respect you for that. We all live and learn don't we?

Site Owner

I just wish the deliberate story thieves would be as accomodating.

I just want too be clear... I did not steal your stories or know
anything about it until today. I dont even pay that much
attention to that part of my site like I should... Here is my baby
http://www.cameltoecorner.com/main.html
This is where I devote my time to. The other part of my site in
for the most part automated...
But on the other hand I didnt look into the background of the
stories either. Stories are just not my buisness, I am into the
picture and movie part of the adult industry.
Also if I was your story thief I sure wouldnt stick my nose
around here! Think about it

LOL

Ever tried a google with 'black tulip'?
So, the same goes for me. If you ever see one of my stories, please let me know.

I do think about it. While I think it's admirable, and appreciate the fact that Mark removed my story from his forum so quickly, and subsequently shut it down ostensibly to remove other Literotica stories, I'm still thinking about the fact that the names of the categories in his "Erotic Forum" matched, exactly, the names of the corresponding categories on the Literotica site.

These included sections titled, "Erotic Couplings", "Gay Male", "Incest/Taboo", "Fetish Stories", "Exhibitionism & Voyeur", "First Time", "Loving Wives", among others. All of these categories had stories from the same, verbatim, Literotica categories posted under them. Did the bulletin board software automatically create these section titles? Are they "standard" section titles used by all erotic story sites? Did they come with the stolen stories?

I don't know, but I find it to be highly coincidental and, as an ex-cop, I don't really believe in coincidence.

Indeed.

I also think it's rather distasteful to use this opportunity to spam this forum with links to his site. Talk about taking advantage of the situation.

Yes, I'm cynical. I also get very pissed off about story theft and plagiarism.

I choose to submit my stories here at Lit without payment, because it is a very good site - well run, great people, wonderful way of getting feedback and so on, but that is my choice. I do not appreciate others making gains from my stories without my permission.

Thanks for the heads up on this, UnderMyKilt.

Mark, I appreciate your apology, but it is rather tainted by you shoving your site down our throats - the very site where our stories were posted without our permission (or the sister site of, at the very least).

Lou

I certainly didn't mean to imply that YOU were a deliberate story thief or even in collusion with plagiarists. You're certainly taking action once the problem was brought to your attention, which I was thanking you for doing.
