I'm going to reiterate what Ogg said about the contrast between the text and the background being too weak.
It's going to take me a while to get used it. Undoubtedly, there will be some tweaks and by that time we'll all be used to it.
Just hit Control-A. It's ugly, but very readable.

But, seriously, with my eyesight, the contrast is a bit of a problem. Obviously, this is no country for old men.

I think they pulled it. The old dash board shows up when you login on the story side.

On the bottom of the new panel, it gives you the option to use the old panel. And this shows up.

Old UI is still available, but will be turned off eventually.
I'm going to be really sad when the old panel goes away.
But on the bright side, I'm excited to see the new site.

It might work for you but I have over 200 stories posted. It takes an age to go through eleven pages with masses of blank space and check for changes in votes/views. Before all that was on one page.

I've had a couple of fans who had a nasty feel, but mostly they seem nice and rarely cause any problem.
I'm also failing to get a creepy vibe from your small cloaked figure.
"Come here often? That cloak really makes an interesting contrast with the mist. Since you seem to believe I won't get away, what do you see for prospects in our relationship? Want to hit a teahouse and talk about it?"
"No, I plan to vanish into the mist and then... show up unexpectedly, haunting your existence in various ways."
