Who writes long sex scenes?

Hi, aspiring writer here! I am editing a story I wrote a little back and am wondering if I could read some of your scenes to get an example? I don’t like trudging through randomly. I like stories where a man trains his sub and most things in mind control (as long as the actual writing fits my style)

What's your idea of a long sex scene? How do you decide when it starts? The end is usually easier to figure out.

I'm confused what you're asking. Are you asking to rate and review other people's scenes, or are you looking for inspiration? What's a good scene is going to vary wildly from story to story. A first-person nonconsent scene is going to need to be different from a third-person limited polyamorous group scene is going to be different from a seductive second-person I/T scene. Even scenes that seem similar in their dramatic personae and point of view are going to be super different from writer to writer.

I don’t like trudging through randomly I’m looking for well written stories,
Odds are almost every author in AH will tell you their story or stories are well written. You haven't given any of us much to go on with respect to what you are actually looking for. There are so many flavors, try specifying a category. If you want incest sex, that's a specific category. If you want noncon/reluctance, you'll get a different flavor.

I struggle to write more than 2000 words of a sex scene. Most of my stories are all sex, too, so I need to learn how to build up to the sex

Sorry! I’m looking for inspiration, but wanted to give back for answering on this thread.

I’ll fix the OP but I was looking for straight couples with a woman’s POV exploring or a man teaching a women to be his sub. Also, anything in the mind control category

You might like my friend's story Bound Fun with my Roommate he writes long sex scenes, this one is from the female POV, and it sorta inadvertently falls under sub training, though that wasn't the intention of writing it. It's not directly sub training, though, that's just a side effect of the plot and actions within the story.

Thank you! I’ll check it out right now

I write scenes that are lengthy enough to sometimes earn criticism. It isn’t uncommon for one of my stories to be around twenty Google Docs pages, with the sex scene running from page 8 onward. Check out my Pandora’s Other Box intro for an example.

I pretty much started writing erotica as an excuse to write sex scenes. But from the beginning, I realized setting the stage was so important. And in writing the scene, there can be too much of a good thing. At a certain point it can go on too long. I typically start summarizing the action after a point and wrap up a passionate scene. How long is too long is hard to say, but if I think it dragged on too long, I can only imaging the reader thinking get on with it!

My most recent may be an example:
A Taste For Young Women

I really try not to. I'd rather have multiple shorter scenes than one long one.

If can I fade to black on penetration...but l am an erotica coward!

I tend to disperse taster scenes thoughout to keep the reader intrested then finish with a biggy. Sex is more than up, down,up, down, up, down, consider what people are thinking during sex. Is he worried about cumming to soon, is she thinking the ceiling needs painting, if she's starfishing hows he feeling?

I write sex scenes that are all over the place in length. Some are quite short, and a couple of hours in private are elided down to 3-5 paragraphs. Others can feel like Gilgamesh… (I just finished one that will fill at least 3-4 Lit pages.)
The length always serves the story. Even here on Lit, the sex, while usually the focal point of story, should still be there to serve the narrative, not the other way around.
Go as long as you need to tell a complete story, even if the story itself is, um, incomplete. But tell your story. If you are horny enough, the sex will take care of itself. Don’t pump it up if it doesn't need to be there, but don’t restrain yourself if it is furthering your narrative!

Out of interest, how much erotica do you read? I often find with questions like this in other genres that the reason the question is being asked in the first place is because the person struggling doesn't actually read the genre they're trying to write.

If you do read lots of erotic fiction (good!) then what sorts of stories are you reading? If you mostly read strokers and stuff that gets to the action fast, and you want to write stories that are more of a slow burn, then the first thing to do is to start seeking out more of the type of stories you want to write and reading them. Obviously I understand that you're asking for recommendations in this thread, so it does seem like you're on the right track, but I'm just wondering how much you're already reading given your reference to "trudging through randomly".

My story has a couple 5000+ word sex scenes, but they involve multiple people and magic rituals. When I wrote them I was worried they'd be too long, but I've gotten nothing but good feedback so I guess they don't drag.

Well, I can't do to much on the "teaching a women to be his sub" except for this, which was just the start...."The Wolf with the Red Roses"

...but....if you want to write LONG sex scenes....LOL. I'm your girl. rotflmao. Couple of stories of mine with lengthy sex scenes......

The Temptation of Sammi Woo - the last half is just one long sex scene....

Pretty much any chapter of Jeong Park, but here's one that's almost nothing but.....

If it helps you get started, feel free to copy from mine and tweak it to suit - that was actually how I started writing with my first story here. I copied someone else's and then complete rewrote it.....it gave me a plot of sorts, which helped, and eventually, with mucho rewriting, it ended up as an original story - "steal that plot" LOL, not that there was much of a plot but when you're startig, it all helps. So if anything of mine helps you, just go ahead and copy it amd rewrite it to suit your tastes with my blessings. And good luck. Just make sure you correct all my spelling and grammatical mistakes. LOL

I find there's so much out there to skim thru that I'm always pleasantly surprised when I find a story I like - and when I do I always bookmark that author, because generally when you enjoy one you'll enjoy more. The hard part is finding the stories you like - the glitter amongst the dross, mundane, and often boring (individual tastes of course....). That said, I love those long slow burns and the long sex scenes - and I write what I enjoy reading too.... and it saves time to do what the OP has done and just ask.

Sex scenes around 5-10k words (1.5-3 Lit pages) seems to be about right. Less than 1 page (3.5k words) is just too short for a decent sex scene IMHO, but then I tend to waffle anyhow.....but I don't get too many complaints about sexscenes being too long. The story maybe, but not the sex LOL
