I'm sure they simply appreciate beautiful things... like paying their workers less than minimum wage or selling electricity to Texans. Where the fuck do you offload a 500k watch? Duh - UAE of course

You would - if you could afford to, in fact, we all would :D

One of the expensive Swiss watch manufacturers sells its products on the basis that you will pass them on to your children.

But modern kids don't wear watches. If they want to know the time they look at their phones. Many can't work out time from an analogue display. They are used to digital numbers.

There's difference between a $10 watch, a $100 watch and a $1000 watch. Everything else is chumpery.

you are so wrong with this statement. the kind of people who would are very different from the kind of people who wouldn't. i wouldn't; that kind of expenditure on a watch is obscene. i feel the same way about clothing, handbags, shoes, cars... there are a whole lot more valuable ways to spend that kind of money

No we wouldn’t.
exactly.

I would not, and I think watches are cool. I'm currently wearing a $20 wood watch because I was looking for a light watch that didn't bother me while playing drums. If I were wealthy, this would still be a great watch for me.

There are things I'd spend a lot of money on if I had it, but adornments are not really on that list.

like people paying tens of thousands for a bloody dress, millions for a piece of modern paint-chucked-on-canvas art, or a fortune for an enormous house with 6+bedrooms and bathrooms to match, 4 receptions and 3 fully equipped state of the art kitchens that dwarf a regular-sized lounge when there are only 2 going to live there, it's all about making themselves feel important by how others view them. it's stupid.

when you measure your worth by the cost of something you own, you are missing the point of being a decent human being.

Reminds me of an old commercial where two guys are working out
and one of them is bragging about his new watch, it did all sorts of amazing thing.
The other guy listened to all of the cool features and asked, "How do you tell the time?"

"I use my phone!"
