Who takes this news story and makes it to a story?

One could do the story as-is, where they're fucking idiots for going public, and follow the possible outcomes; or a different version where they stay more private, more under the radar. I guess it depends on where an author wants the story to go. What's the desired ending? Is this a romance, a tragi-comedy, a cautionary tale, or what?

My guess is this is a hoax. They are just a May/September romance, and decided to go for some publicity by claiming to be mother and son.

Actually, real-life is the opposite -- long-separated kin DO feel attracted. And I recall some of the canonical SW books have Luke+Leia hookups that didn't make it onto the screen.
Anyway, the optimal mom+son setup has mom knocked up at 13 or 14 (no details here, of course) and son sent off to adoption. Shoot forward to his majority; he's an 18-stud and she's a 32-MILF. Or further to where he's 28 and she's 42, tennis-toned of course, but her bio-clock is about ticked-over -- she wants a baby NOW and she feels closest to this younger guy in her office... Or he's 38 and she's 52 and a baby just sort of happens...
Do they know their kinship before they start fucking, or don't they learn till she's pregnant? Are they public or private? If public, are reactions mostly positive or negative? Do they THINK they're related but it turns out the birth certificate is forged?
Twist: Shayla birthed identical twins Mike and Mac when she was 14; they were adopted together and remain inseparable. M&M encounter Shayla after they're 18; all fall in love and search for a polygamy-friendly jurisdiction so she can marry both and bear their children.
