My apartment has three windows, all in the east. In the summer, this place turns into a greenhouse, and I sweat rivers. Even my poor kitty lies in the shadows, panting!

But today, I bought an electric fan for 195:- SKR. It stands on my desk and cheers me on when I write my fics, and keeps me cool.

Mmmmmmmmmm... I'll survive this summer, too.

Money, money

What is Skr?

We have bought a house by the sea, with a balcony and sea views from every room. The kitchen sink faces the sea. Now that is bliss.

Well, not quite every room. I can't see the sea from the ensuite shower room unless I have the door open and I have to stand up and lean towards the window to see the sea from my study.

We have coveted this house for years and bought it last year. Still haven't sold the old house yet. Anyone for a double fronted Edwardian semi with 5 bedrooms, 4 living rooms, 2 bathrooms, parking for four cars plus garage, half mile from the sea, town centre and railway station for only 300,000 pounds? Then we can finish paying for the new house.

Og

PS. The smallest bedroom is only 12 foot square.

SKR = Svenska Kronor, Swedish Crowns, the money of Sweden. $1 is approximately 8 crowns and 67 öre. (There are 100 öre in 1 krona.) So, 195:- SKR is approximately $22 and 49 cents.

That's a great price for happiness.

Now all you need for bliss is your partner and the new HP book.

Am I right?

Og

Hmmmmmmmm

Ah the fresh breeze for you now then dear, shame you couldn't quote the price in English, hehe!!

Cheapest desk fan over here is about £12, a fully oscilating 12 inch model can be had for about £20, now that should encourage MG to comment, hehe!!!

We're lucky, full patio doors and windows to the rear where the sun trap is situated so we can chuck it all open if need be, and a through lounge with an opening arch in the middle so the front double bay windows can be opened to provide through flow of air.

I write in my office mainly and that's always cool, like a little fridge, I have a portable air con unit in there.

Take care in London when you get here, funny lot these townies.

pops..........:D

Dear Og,
A twelve sq ft bedroom. It would have to be about 6x2, or a person would have to sleep standing up. Even if a bed could be found, it would hardly leave room for night tables, chest of drawers, treadmill, cat basket, and other things sine qua non to a civilized bedroom. Also the door would have to open out into the hall. The garderobe would probably be bigger than the bedroom.

Actually, I can, Pop! According to the latest exchange rates, my fan costed me £15. So there!

(I exchanged some SKR's for pounds the other day, that's how I know.);)

That's what we call our weather in San Francisco. I don't own a fan and only use the gas heater a few days in January. I need only walk a block or two for a sea view and a 10 min. bus ride or long walk to the Pacific. My flat would be quite spacious if I got rid of my books and all the portraits of loved ones (Callas, GG and GG, Byron, Pushkin, OW, Hitchcock, my niece) I don't hang up and leave standing on the floor. But I'm comfy and happy in my 'railroad car flat'.

Ogg: the price of your house in pounds might buy a nice 2BR condo in SF.

p.s. this was my other AV choice, my last wedding cake.

How is your husband, by the way?
I ate him after the divorce. He was stale but I got him out of my system (oops, shouldn't mention BMs).

Thanks for asking. -dita & -ette

Once I'm done with my HP-trilogy, it's gonna be very difficult to write a new fan fic. I'll be so hooked up on The Squibs. It's gonna be difficutl to imagine Snape as single, after marrying him off to Robin like that.:)

Maybe the OotP will restore my imagination.
