Just running through to say they are showing 20 episodes of 'SOAP' on TV Land. It's the 25th anniversary has it really been that long?
Ya gotta love it! :D

Oooo! I didn't know they were going to do that?? I loved Soap. I think my favorite single moment was Bill doing that little thing with his hands to show Mary that he could go invisible. *grins*

I have always enjoyed reruns of Soap. I luvs me some Billy Crystal!

To this day I'm pissed that they cancelled the show right after a season ending cliff-hanger. Is Jessica dead? Was Burt killed?

Life sucks.

I agree with that, DCL. It's like that friggin' short story I read in 9th, The Lady or the Tiger. Does he get killed? Does he get married? Tell me, Dammit!

Egads. You changed your av.

I think they all got taken up on the space ship and are living happily ever after. Except for Bob and Jay who are a headlining act in Bangkok.

And Corinne's an aging lush living in a flop house somewhere with an ex-senator, but that's just cuz I didn't like her.

Is it a marathon, or over several weeks?

Great show. Way before it's time.

Maybe one of the funniest shows ever to be on T.V. as well as one of the most contraversial. Still one of my all time favorites, too. It never really was given the chance it deserved. I hate when they cut a show off right after a season cliff hanger.

I remember seeing this show when it was first aired (I feel really old now). Wasn't every episode a cliff-hanger? Weren't they actively satirizing other open-ended shows? And I don't think it was all that controversial, except that some markets wouldn't show it in prime time.

It also inspired one of the most hilarious porn satires I have ever seen. The title was "Hard Soap"

In its prime, a great show.

My favorite was when Chuck was showing his mind-reading act with Bob (that was the name of the dummy wasn't it?). Bob was blindfolded and would guess the objects that Chuck had in his hands. It took a while for Burt to figure it out but Danny just didn't get it...

Danny: "He's peekin'. He's gotta be peekin!"

Burt: "Danny - CHUCK can see what's being held up!"

Danny: "Yeah, but Bob can't!!"

A brilliant show. I've been saying "Confused? You will be..." ever since.
I did hear that it was unpopular with the production companies because it made people see how silly the supposedly serious soaps were - Dallas for example.

Maybe someday they could round up the old cast and make a two hour wrap up the loose ends episode. It would be the longest cliffhanger ever.

What a show!

I can't think of a show that has made me laugh so much. I was not allowed to watch it when it first aired. Mom and Dad thought it was too risque for us kiddos. I used to stay up at night and watch the reruns when it finally went into the late night line ups.

Just think about how many of those characters went onto to other shows and are still making us laugh.

Thanks for bringing back those thoughts.

Just weighing in ... Soap ruled
and god but I'm getting old.

I never saw any reruns.

Another great line was "We don't have homos in Texas"

I think my favorite scene was when Billly Crystal was directing that Peppy Flake commercial, sort of a fruit of the loom guys parody. The singing corn flake was standing in the bowl of milk, with a jingle something like -

"My name is Mr. Peppy Flake, I used to be a schleppy flake,
but now I've got a brand new pal, my freind the raisin, Al !"

& Al would pop up from under the milk & say 'Hi Mr. Peppy Flake!"

But of course, The Soap dramas interfered with Jodi doing his job, somebody had to talk to him.

Mr. Peppy Flake was a method actor with motivation issues...
It took lots of takes. Eventually things fell apart. After a while, The raisin popped up & said "Hi Mr. Peppy Flake, Now you're going to die!!!"& attacked him with the giant silverware.

At least that's my recollection.:D

I was an avid SOAP fan, Also had a thing for Mary Hartman Mary Hartman. Until it became to depressing to watch.

I'm so happy to see that I'm not the only 'SOAP' lover! I stayed up until 4 a.m. watching the silly thing. *yawn*

Nora, I didn't know they were doing it either, hubby was channel surfing and I heard the opening music and watched from there. Corrinne was a whiner wasn't she?

Eumenides, I hadn't seen it in years, I think that's why I was so excited it was on. I love Billy Crystal too.

DCL, you still remember the last episode, how many other shows that were cancelled can you say that about? Maybe that was the intention.

Ruby, they did a marathon last night, but I believe they will be airing the show on weekends now. I think I heard at midnight EST.

427cobra and phrodeau, it was very controversial for the time. If I remember right Billy Crystal was the first actor to play a gay man on prime time. It was a satire of the soaps.

The_old_man, I didn't know about that site, how funny, is it still up?

bigjacknyc, I forgot about that, hillarious!

Darowyn, Confused? :D

NightFlier, that would be cool, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Kymberley, you're welcome, I figured at least some of us would like to know it was on. I did get to watch it prime time, but only because my Mom worked evenings hehe

bluespoke, I think Benson was my favorite, I loved his sarcasm.

Saytur, you're not old, the show is.

patient1, They played that one last night, lol, the 'raisin' attacked the 'flake' because he kept leaving him under the milk, not cueing him for his part.

Hi peachykeen & complicity, fellow 'SOAP' lovers. :D

You know, I don't think I ever saw Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, I know it was very popular but it must have been on at the same time as something else that I watched.

I remember it so well that I can't get the song out of my head since reading the subject of this post.

Damn.
