Is it the writers? Or little trolls running around at night? I think it is the writers. So, if we need help, why can't we get it? My last post had lots of people that have had the same problem logging on there page. Some, like me, had to open a new account just to get on. As for me, I do not want that. I have way over 100 stories under my writing name L.A.Wicker and I would fu***** love to get back in it, but our friendly web master doesn't help. If he does, he makes us sound like we are nothing but dumb asses.
I'm tired of it. If you guys are tired of it too, I say lets write them in mass numbers and get the help and support or we find another site. I know this is one of the best, but if you can't get the help you need, why post here?
Ok, that should piss off a few people, but maybe that's what it will take.

I hate to say it, but I was curious and did an author search for L.A.Wicker. There were no stories under that name. I don't know how many people are having that problem, but I wish you good luck solving it. Frustrating.

ETA: Good news finding the stories. It was a spacing thing. I cut and pasted your author name from your post = 0 stories. A space between the . and W = all your stories.

Yes, it is frustrating. But (isn’t there always a but?), I have looked around and all things considered this is a free site (there are income sources but they’re not imposed on us – the authors) and this place has huge exposure (trolls and all). You can actually reach an audience and get feedback.

It would be nice to see a little more support but all things considered (number of posts per day – 7 days a week, 24 hours a day) this is a hell of a place to showcase an aspiring authors thoughts, ideas and abilities (well, I speak for others – in my case it might be lack of abilities).

I’m kind of in a similar boat. My laptop has crashed and I’ll be replacing it next week. What I thought was my PW doesn’t seem to work. I’ve tried the ‘renew your password’ thing twice and can’t seem to get that to work. It will be frustrating when I have to finally change over. I plan on seeking help on the boards – I’m sure someone has lived and survived the same thing.

I hope it works out for you but I doubt seriously, many of us want to abandon Lit and find a new home. And I’ve got to be honest – I’ve found some really great talent lurking around out here. I wouldn’t want to miss out on what they might write next

I could be wong, but "who keeps this site up" is two people who works their socks off to keep this site on the right keel financially, technically and jucidially. Going on the agressive path there doesn't seem like a very level headed thing to do. Or even effective. Have you ever run a large community website, Larry? I have and trust me, there are a dozen to a hundred other members at this very moment who are convinced their problem is the most important one in the universe and should have the management on their toes and at beck and call. I understand that position, it's frustrating as hell. But a little perspective shift might be in order.

This site is provided to you free of charge...althought if you really want your problems addressed really, really fast you might try writing a check for a couple of thousand dollar, denars, rubles or what ever currency they use in the CSA, and mail it to them.

Then you would probably get the service you think you should have.

There are 783,647 members of this site, not all authors - true, but they are members, and would probably like the service to be better and more in line with what they want. So kick in a few $$$'s and then you can demand anything you like. Until then you will have to wait, as you are a use not a customer.

You're being given a free opportunity to publish your stories. I'm being given all the dirty stories I can consume at one sitting, also for free. We're both expendible. Our hosts, on the other hand, are offering us something fairly unique. If you're unhappy with the level of service, offer to pay for hiring a staff.

I've had a similar problem in the past, especially with a new computer. For some reason, computers think of this site as being a dangerous place to be. Maybe they have heard about Amicus. Anyhow, somewhere in the control panel of your computer, there should be a list of security settings. If you go there and tell it to lighten up, it might let you back to where you want to go.

I believe the computers of the world have a conspiracy going to screw over the people who use them.

There is also a problem with changing your email address in your profile, if you mistype it and hit the save button you can't get back in because the system goes through the process of sending an authorization email to the email address entered and resets some switches in the database that makes the system think you are a new user.

Therefore you can't get back in to correct the incorrect email address to get the authorization code needed to set/re-set your password. Kind of a "Catch 22" thing.

"Who Keeps This Site Up" is ad revenues, specifically the porn ad-sharing "per click" money from the ads you see when you browse stories.

Frankly, I'm surprised it's not more obtrusive. If you're a regular here, you can log in, read stories, post comments without seeing an single ad.

Of all the free fiction websites out there, I have to say this is the best. For my work, I get a sounding board, some honest (and occasionally, not so honest) feedback, a place to meet friends, and an outlet for my occasional frustrations.

Ease off, Larry. Laurel and Manu do their damnedest to keep this place running, and minor quibbles and problems aside, they do it very well. Be glad this domain is here, otherwise you wouldn't have a place to pitch your bitch.

Yes, the problem is logging on. I know my stories are still on there, but if you can't log in to post stories, what do you do? I'm not changing my user name, I've had L.A. Wicker for a long time.
And as for help, How long should it take? I've been writing for help close to over two weeks. I don't care how busy anyone is. Two weeks is bull.
Oh, yes, we use normal money here in the CSA and I'm not easing off. If we need help, we should get it in a timely manor.
