Who is Stefani Germanotta?

I watched her concert at MSG on tv last night. I like her voice, but she's a weirdo. I'd like to hear her just stand and sing without all the flash. A lot of gospel in her voice.

No one paid any attention to the gospel in her voice until she got flashy. Unfortunately in the era today of "video star", things like that catch people's attention. I don't respect her one iota less because she changed her style to garner the attention her talent deserves. :)

She's very pretty. I wonder why she hides behind the makeup and costumes. It's not all flash, she seems to be really hiding. Self esteem issues perhaps. Maybe she can only really be free when she's covered. Just a guess since I know very little about her. I know nothing of her music but assume she must be at least decent to have done as well as she has.

All performers have self-esteem issues. If you don't start out with them, you catch them pretty quick the first time you notice that people clapping for you doesn't suck.

Last I read about it, which was a couple of years ago, some Gaga friend or other said she'd made the conscious decision that anyone could sing well, but not everyone could be famous, and the persona would be her ticket to fame.

If and when she drops it, it will be because the act of dropping it is a means to even more attention.

Just finished watching Monster Ball off of HBO, I like Gaga.....but she's too hung up on money.....which, I'm sure she has a ton now but she kept saying all night " I hate money!". Also I kept thinking, part Madonna, part Liza, and borrowed many other performers but god love her...I like to workout to her music

Lady Gaga is a great embodiment of artists who came before her. I like her attitude, her persona, and her in general, but there's nothing new here.

Madonna finally broke her silence on Born This Way: she felt like she'd heard it before. We all had.
