Writing erotica is very new to me. In my signature is my first story accepted to Literotica. It doesn't make much sense by itself but I got a few good reviews so far.

I should explain a bit more about it. This is only an excerpt out of a much larger work. The novel is in dual first person narrative, based on an eighteen year old's view of sex. So naturally the narrative is very halted, frank, and brutal. I'm usually a much more graceful writer, but this time I'm trying to stay in character. It makes the reading slightly less accessable to the everyday reader, but I think it achieves a much greater effect. It's only first draft and I only write it on my off hours. My real current novel is about an eight year old dying of cancer.

The novel is South Beach, a dark erotic fantasy about the swingers on Miami, Florida. It follows two storylines of two eighteen year old lovers. It starts out with a bang, with the male, Michael, first going to his girlfriend's best friend to learn about sex. Angel, the girlfriend, turns out to be a nympomaniac. If you were a guy with a girl as beautiful as Angel, you'd think you'd hit the jackpot. But unforgunately, Angel's obsession is on a debilitating level. The novel quickly descends into madness, with Angel obsessed with sex and Micheal desperately trying to hold her together while trying to make a living. She becomes a porn star, stripper, and escot and does very well at all of them. Michael lets her feed her own addiction while he tends to his own problems and they find themselves falling out of love with each other. In the final climax Angel tries to commit suicide, with Michael plucking her from death at the last moment.

I think that gives some perspective on my story. What do you think? Should I finish this novel? I'm a hundred thirty pages through already.

130 pages? yeah, finish... if for no other reason than to complete a novel :)

My 'Book'

I was writing a dark sinister thing. Sort of my confession about the things I saw and did in Vietnam.

I still work on it when in the mood but the Iraq adventure we are in right now makes me think noone would be interested in something from 40 years ago.

I really enjoyed writing the 'good parts' so that is what I do now. It helps me not scream my way into work some mornings because of a memory or dream.

I love sex. I love being in love. Writing about it is fun and stimulating.

Most of my work is fairly non-sexual.... I don't see sex and erotica as mutually exclusive.

Most of my novels are non-erotic. My short stuff runs the gauntlet from non-erotic to flat out porn. Most is somewhere in the middle.

Finish the book, if for no other reason than to finish it. And then send it to an editor, and then publisher. That way, if you write another one later, you've already gotten the first time jitters out.

Yes, definitely! I really liked your synopsis. The novel sounds like it would make a killing in the market.

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised about that. There's always interest in history, no matter when it occurs.

Wow, thanks for the support. I'll finish the novel before the year is out. Hopefully I can get a round of editing done pretty soon while I work on my other novels.

I do some technical writing and freelance for some car magazines. Sex is more fun, tho.

:D

Babe, in my opinion there's ALWAYS room for Vietnam stories. Finish it, send it to me.

I read the first paragraph of your story. You described someone as a "gorgeous, busty redhead".

You'll probably do okay here, but I'd say you'll NEVER be a serious writer if you're content with trite descriptions like that.

It means you're either too lazy or too immature to have any interest in characterisation.

Non-erotic novels?

Eh, I've tried. Never finished one though.
