Seems to be a hell of a lot of crazy posts about American politics in here.

UK seems so chill. Not much going down.

Is it because Sunak made Sambas cool?

Or something else...

What's up?

UK, obviously. We have Sunak, The Tories and the Union flag! We dress smart and we have a man that bangs a gavel and shouts order.

let's not forget Black Rod (snigger) and the bastions of democracy, the Regal Family (or something).

The US duh. We have a system where lonely billionaires can find their soul mates in the Supreme Court, and just out of the goodness of their hearts lavish them with them with presents and all expenses paid vacations on private jets and super yachts, while having deep and frank conversations on their rather libertarian perspective on constitutional law. Not they want to influence a Supreme Court justice, no. ;)

Nah, 'Murca is way better. Sitting members of Congress and the Senate can use their priviledged positions on committees or over crab cakes with lobbyists to gain special knowledge on what stocks to buy or sell way before anyone else. Sounds amazing, right? The kicker is that if anyone else did the same thing they'd get their asses thrown in jail for insider trading, sounds unfair, right? Hey, the only people that can change that are the same sitting members of congress and the senate.

So USA #1

Can the UK with their silly little MPs in Parliament beat that?

And another thing that makes 'Murica waaaay better than the UK. The same drugs they pay a buck fifty for across the pond we in the greatest country ever pay 2, 3, sometimes 400% more on the exact same drugs from the exact same drug companies.

So there, suck it Brits! 🤣

Plenty of the uk parliament have links to the city, and to pre market info too.
Think that one’s probably a draw.

Sunak is a crypto baller mate. I heard he was holding when the market had bottomed so I sold my house and filled my bags and now I'm minted. Our government wants us to do well 😍

We don't pay for drugs in Scotland. Health care is free. I've watched grays anatomy before and seen people getting shafted for not having insurance. UK wins.

So .......how much of your check do you keep after taxes?

What was that again about "free"?

I did a comparison about 10 years back with an American co-worker, and at the end of the day I had more disposable income. That doesn't automatically mean I was better off, since location and cost of goods also needs to be examined, but on the straight on who had more cash left (in American dollars) after all government expenses, I did.

In fact, I did a synopsis of the comparison on Lit a few years back. I'm not sure if that post still exists,or if it was in one of BB's threads that was ultimately deleted.

What's crazy is the fascination by so many who do not reside here with our politics.

It's the difference between largely homogenous, staid cultures and a young polyglot of conflicting and competing cultural values. We're the teenager who should not have been given the car keys and they're the nosy neighbors who need a little spice for their gossip and the fresh dents and cops provide that.

Not surprised at all. US healthcare is the most expensive in the world, and it not close. It’s a huge burden on businesses that provide healthcare benefits, and is wildly expensive for individuals who buy policies on their own.

Any system other than the one we have now would save money. That’s why the US medical industry is adamantly against change.

Why do you think Canadians with severe conditions cross the border to pay the higher prices?

Yes, that was the big one that made the difference. But a lot of people also don't understand the government gives 1/4 rebates on taxes such as the HST and now Carbon Taxes. Which is a benefit to lower income earners. ( I don't qualify cause I made to too much...lol) Canada is not afraid to tax the upper income earners...but they do it in a way you can't avoid paying. That is the trick the US needs to learn.

Canadians don't. 100% fallacy.

Those numbers quoted refer to "elective surgery/healthcare" for items not covered under our system. The number one for cross border medical care is for plastic surgery. Number two is for negotiated care where it's cheaper to contract out care to an American facility. ( usually due to distance from locations to hospitals). Number three is for desperation care, and Mexico is actually now the destination for last chance cancer cures....

Ask Rand Paul why he went north of the border for his treatment...
