I'm in New York about 55 miles North of the greatest city in the world.......the Mid Hudson area.

Where in the Northeast is everyone/anyone else from?

Isn't that an oxymoron?

Soft southern nonces would have me from the Northeast, but I'm not really.

But you don't sound much like a Geordie anyway.

Welllllllllll, I used to be from the North East, (Cape Cod to be exact, land of the Kennedies and Wanna Be Puritans.) Then I got smart and hauled my as south to Florida.

I'm with you. I currently live in Massachusetts, outside Providence RI. Would love to move someplace warm all year long. Working outside all winter long up here sucks. :(

It is currently 105 degrees (41c) at not quite 6 pm. Come join the warmth.

Well, maybe a happy medium? 105 is a little warm but this past January it hit -10 (F) here. That was a little cool for me.

Not sure if Pennsylvania is Northeast or still mid-Atlantic (I always get the distinction a little blurred in my mind<g>), but I was just born outside of Harrisburg...wouldn't say I was from there to speak of, and I live in Virginia now...

Why is it that I find threads that start out this way so frightening?

It's that whole alter ego thing. We sit at our computers and only those people whom we want to have the information really get to know who and where (and what?) we truly are. All others who seek such information are suspect until we get to know them.

That's why so many chat rooms...I mean, where *actual* conversations are going on...tend to ban or look down on people asking about the standard a/s/l. Granted, most of those programs have a profile that would give people that information, but 1) they have to be filled out and 2) they have to be read.

Dealt with those temps for most of my life. (And even colder but we wont get into that one.) Decided to move south. My wife and I packed everything up and moved south with nothing lined up. Just one of those lets get the hell out of dodge type of moves. We lived in a tent for three months before getting a place to stay. We have never looked back, and have not regretted leaving everything and everyone we knew. God it's great having a wife with the balls to do something like that.

Vella, Hey Neighbor, one of these days I'll get over there to check things out.

One of these days, I keep telling myself, I'm going to break out the almanacs and atlases and find a place where it's somewhere between mid60s and mid70s, like, most of the year...with moderate rainfall, just a touch of snow, and bearable sunshine. 'Til then, I put up with humidity from hell, hurricanes and nor'easters, rain that is either torrential or nonexistent, and winters that range from kneedeep snow to bright sunshine all Christmas season...

Re: Re: Who else is from the NORTHEAST US?

True there are a lot of oxymorons here, but we've started a, send them to GA campaign, lol.

And sure Remec, we'll give ya the NorthEast.

Glad to see everyone....I know there's a few more out there.

Used to live up there. Lived in Lincoln, Maine. About middle of the state. Nothing but Pine trees, paper mills and blackflies. Whooweee! That was livin'!

Remec, it's San Francisco then. We don't have any snow but the mountains are just a few hours drive.
