cautioning that the virus remains a significant and an enduring health challenge

Early estimates of upward of 6,000 affected births in Brazil have been revised sharply downward, to about 2,100 at last count. Of the 27 other countries that have reported cases of Zika-related birth defects, Colombia has recorded the second highest tally, 57. In most countries, the cases are in the single digits.

I don't know if I got bit in Florida or not.

The sense I got from reading another article on the same announcement was that rather than continuing to approach it as a temporary emergency, to be contained, it has become/ will be treated as a new permanent reality. They didn't contain it. They did prove causation with microcephaly, and a human sexual transmission vector. So it's not about a task force anymore, it's about an ongoing program/department.

As far as I know- Vaccines and better tests are still needed. Mosquito transmission is subject to the seasons. People who have had it are immune.
