Who are we?

I was talking with TigerJen about the events of the past year. I made the point that despite the massacre of 9/11 that the one single positive aspect of it, which cannot not be stressed enough, is thatthe way people came together and the outpouring of positive emotions, despite the difficulties of the situation, shows that perhaps we are a people worth saving after all. We got a reminder of who we are that day. So who are we? We are the people who came across the ocean because we got kicked out of every other civilized nation, we're the society of people descended from mercenaries and warriors and slaves, we're the people who conquered and have held a continent for over a century, the nation who develpoed and USED the first atomic bomb.....we are the mean motherfuckers on the block who will rip shred and tear out enemies limb from limb like the pack of wild dogs we've come from. We're the largest and most productive nation the world has ever seen, the one who has the most internal resources, without us the global village gets burned to ashes. We're the ones who other nations run to crying mommy, in either monetary or military need. In the end the train coming through, assholes, get off the tracks or get run over. Personally I like to see `em get run over ..........I love the squishy sound.

NEVER FORGIVE NEVER FORGET!

Not for me, for the ones that didn't make it.

What's that supposed to mean?? I meant the applause
for you for posting up the ideas that you were blabbing
to me on IM.........

However, the applause is reserved for all heroes of 9/11 :)

Hmmmmmm perhaps you're right. If more people applauded those ideas and paid them more then lip sevice, then some of out problems would be much easier solved.

I meant that you shouldn't be praising me for the ideas, save the good feelings and positive vibes for those people that deserve it. I'm just the guy with the big mouth.

*pondering Cobra's thoughts*

May I take the time to say.......

that the US of A is the best country on Earth?

Had you posted those thoughts along the lines of the US trying to become an "Emperial" power, I would disagree in the strongest possible voice.

The vast majority of US history though is what you present. Yes, we have made some grevious errors, some inexcusable, some from inexperience, but most because we tried to do the impossible and only attained that that was possible.

Good thoughts, Cobra.

Rather than view our country as a huge jauggernaut train which runs everyone and every country over I like to view us as a responsible country which fought for the very freedom you and I have to be here to comment on this; a country full of heroes; a country with good, solid hard working people, and above all a country which helps other countries to be free and reap and enjoy the rewards of those freedoms. Rather than run them over with the train,I would suggest we put them on the tracks and give their people a taste of the very freedom we have struggled and fought to protect. Jusat my opinion though.

Funny......

Cobra.....you tell me that you are going to bed, which you
did, and now people are posting up!!! ;) I am glad that
you listened to me and posted those thoughts up!

it's just slightly better than your av ;)

I always thought that the image Jen provides via her av was exactly what I was fighting for!

Oh yeah, Unit, Corps, God and Country!

Rejoice America!... while we will probably never find Osama's putrid/bleached bones at this point, know that the uniformed people that serve this country daily will continue to give so that you and I will be able to enjoy the greatest of freedoms on earth.

I do agree with your thoughs 100% but from time to time that much feared "juggernaut" has to be awakened, as much it's a terrible thing to witness, it can also be a thing of beauty. It's important to remember what powers it though: Freedom, Self-Expression, Heart, Soul, Desire, Honor, Nobility, and from time to time we hope wisdom and knowledge. But this isn't a debate, all points are as valid as the others.

She'd look good just about in anything though, wouldn't you agree? I'd fight for that anyday.

I am too, consider it my small contribution to give people a way to talk about things.

Since 8am this morning my tears filled my eyes

a beautiful blue, sunny day here...........how ironic that this
was the same type of weather we had on 9/11 last
year..........

I am worth fighting for? Why thank you gentlemen!

Just heard all the names being read on tv......those who
died in WTC......seeing all the people........unbelieveable......
hearing the church bells sound out.....the moments of
silence.................very very emotional.......

my love to all on 9/11........ :rose:

Rather than crying or being emotional, it's better to be mad as hell, that way you can look at what happened and be able to confront it easier.

A wish

I wish I could just let you cry on my shoulder...

Grief goes down better with some one else...

I would even promise to just hold you until you stopped crying...

Long arms and big chests are good for hugs...

Kiss...
