Whitney Houston, RIP

Major bummer! She had a load of talent and a great voice. RIP Whitney. :rose:

I'm guessin' still being on drugs or suffering the effects of the damage they wreaked on her body did her in. Sad. :(

Just saw this and yes it's a shame.

Bobby Brown was the end of that poor girl. Granted he was her choice and she stayed with him, but once trapped by addiction it is not that cut and dried.

And as always I shake my head at yet another example of how fucked up things are that she passes away and that slug will most likely live to be 80. He'll write some books about her and make money off of her. What a joke.

Holy shit! When I saw the title there I thought, "Can't be. She's too young..."

48. Crap.

Let me be the first to post THE song.

Yup, that's right, that's the original Dolly Parton song and I have three reasons to post that one.

The first reason: see it as a salute from Dolly to Whitney, seeing as how it is a "Saying goodbye" song.

The second reason: Because dolly's original has always been the better one, I am not one to kick a person when he's down but Whitney's voice was better suited for the soul she sang and "I will always love you" is a country song and Dolly sings it with a real fragility to her voice, she sings it like she lived it. Whitney never was that convincing.

The third reason: (And let me assure you that I have no intention of hurting anybody's feelings but i HAVE to say this, knowing that an avalanche of radio airplay of "I will always love you" is about to take place...)

Oh boy, when I think back at me being sixteen in 1992 and that song was just EVERYWHERE, and for all those weeks which turned into months and it would NEVER go away.

I think back of that and I feel like a teenager again, that angry punk rock double fisted teenager I was back then. That song became the soundtrack of me ready to go on a murder spree, over exposure made me DETEST her version of that song. I HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE WHITNEY'S VERSION OF "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!"

Okay, that feels better, I just HAD to get that off my chest.

I don't think he will do.

Hes not the good guy next to a bad girl. If he will ever write a book, it will be a big big "Sorry" book.

And I don't think he will grow much older than her.

I feel really sorry for him, cause I liked his music in the past. Now, he's a no go.

But Whitneys death is as hard to imagine for me as the dead of Freddy Mercury, or Kurt Cobain. These were stars I thought they'll live forever.

It seems that Bobby Brown is turning into another Yoko Ono or Courtney Love. People are talking "He got her on drugs, he's the one that killed her."

Now I'm not the one who'd defend dirtbags but having been falsely accused of something myself, I will say come up with SOLID evidence before you accuse somebody.

No one has ever written, painted, sculpted, modeled, built, or invented except literally to get out of hell.

Not all escape attempts are successful.

i didn't see signs of that hell in her early years. she looked like a golden girl.

i suppose, however, there was some inherent weakness or vulnerability.

Just noticed a news flash that her daughter has been rushed to hospital now. :(

Ummm let's see. She was clean beautiful and successful before she met him. He had already had issues.

She then became hooked on drugs and went down hill.

Coincidence? Only the naive would think so.

Did he continue to force her to take drugs? Well no one could know that but he introduced it to her. And all it takes is one time to be hooked.

He is no comparison to Yoko or Courtney. Lennon was already experimenting with everything when he met her and Cobain as well. Besides Lennon was shot to death and Cobain took his own life (not that Whitney did not but it was not an intentional suicide)

I'll also chime in with a ton of personal experience having several cousins who are drug addicted d-bags who have ruined more than one decent woman in their lives.

and he is already at it. "Breaking down" at a concert. Oh, please those were tears of joy because his name will be back in circulation.

Current Un-substaianted "news"

The current but unsubstantiated news--in case no one has heard yet (and I don't see it posted here, but maybe I missed it)--is that it looks like she accidentally drowned in her bathtub. Word is she was getting ready for her engagement that night and it was getting late. One of the women on her staff went into the bath to check on her, found her under the water, screamed. The bodyguard got her out, attempted CPR while paramedics were called. They pronounced her dead when they got there.

Suspicion is that she fell asleep (i.e. drugged sleep), slipped down and drowned.

Keep in mind, this is news leaked to the press, not substantiated.

No matter what went on in her personal life. I thought she was a very talented singer. I feel bad that life had to take a detour with addiction for her. I truly hope she can rest in peace and be remembered for the good things but I fear after the initial shock is over all the bad stuff will get the most press.

You know... it's a cruel world for some. Undeserved and fated to a life we would not want to live. So many iniquities... for so many lovely people. Every so often, even the most deprived can take pleasure in some small measure of happiness. A happiness often provided by an exquisite voice interpreting words that are poignant and meaningful... often at a special time and in a special place. I think we have been privileged to have had that in our lifetimes.

I truly hope that there is a God, that will cradle her in his arms and pass on our love.

Look a little closer: having to record music she herself didn't stood behind, she was abandoned by her gospel audience after going pop, she got boo'd at the soul train awards, her success might brought her fame and fortune but at a HUGE price: forever being labeled a sell out.

Even her big cover of "I will always love you" she did NOT want to do, Kostner however was in charge and she had to do as he ordered.

How much can we boo-boo that given how well it paid off for her? I may not want to do a vampire novel, but trust me, if I was under contract and told to write one, and it was a huge success, I wouldn't bitch and moan about it afterwards. I'd say, "Wow, they were right. I'm now a household name and once my contract is done I can do what I want and know people will buy my stuff thanks to that vampire novel..."
