Ken Howard was "The White Shadow". I think it was on CBS - that would explain why it's "forgotten". But I think I remember seeing reruns on A&E or the Family Channel or some shit like that. Kinda freaked me out...

My favorite Scatman Crothers moment is in "The Shining" when Jack Nicholson buries an axe in his chest.

It sure was, Ella Fitzgerald and Cab Calloway made it very popular in the speakeasies of the 30's and the nightclubs of the 40's. In the late 70's and 80's, when rap came out into the mainstream it was revived in the form of what is now termed, call and response.
