I will NOT be wearing a ridiculous helmet, holding a 3rd-grade art-class grade shield and swinging gawd-knows-what in the other hand.

I WILL be wearing the DOGTAGS that were issued to ME at the age of 8 years old during our flight to Taiwan in 1968....where my DAD was deployed in the name of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in order to FIGHT for DEMOCRACY.

Our home there had a BOMB shelter in the backyard.....ALL of them did.

In addition, there is this divide and conquer mechanism that has always infected America. Appelrouth & Edles (2008) explains that othering is the process of creating and maintaining a contrast between ones-self as compared, by a particular identity and the other.

For instance when the Irish and Italians arrived to America, they were looked down upon by the uppity WASPs. I do not feel like going into detail regarding the history of ethnic white immigrants in America but many of them were vehemently racist against the native blacks in order to assert their 'whiteness' and fit in with the WASPS.

Go research that part of history.

Let's not even go to detail with the way some Russians have treated African immigrant students.

Putting it bluntly, White Europeans are now regarded as white and have been afforded their privilege.

My turn to give You a lesson. Mine is contemporary instead of History:
--- First of all, certain white North Europeans see white Eastern and South Europeans as being second class. You, as a black AMERICAN would be viewed more favourably by some of them.
--- Secondly, your insinuation that white immigrants are being accorded special privileges or treated like precious flowers is laughable. I and my friends Did encounter xenophobia, from both whites And non- whites. It's not only non - whites who were treated badly by white immigrants, as you insinuate. It can also be the other way around.
By the same token, we met a lot of nice people too.
It's all about character, not about race.

But this wasn't intended as a contest, and I'm far from contesting the fact that there are many pockets of discrimination and blatant racism against non- whites in the States. The killings by cops that I saw on the net, and the thugs from Charlottesville showed it plenty.

My point was different

I would be happy to take a stand for those who are being bullied or discriminated against, or to interact nicely with those who are colour blind when they interact with me, human to human.

But I'm not gonna be guilt - tripped by the entitled ones and start being appologetic about being a "white with white privilege", or to start attacking my race or my traditions to make up for the injustices from the past. What happened in the past was none of my fault.
