I am a dark chocolate gal - the darker and more bitter the better.

I never used to be like this I used to like milk chocolate and orange flavoured chocolate (ooooh still love orange flavoured chocolate and mint and...) anyway - when did white chocolate become the big thing? You can't move for white choc - white choc Smarties, Cookies, Ice cream etc - yeuch!!

Give me real chocolate - 90% cocoa solids or nothing!

I guess there are lots of white choc lovers out there - sigh

White chocolate is nothing but sickeningly sweet cocoa butter with the interesting parts removed. People who prefer white chocolate should be prohibited from marrying. It's the only solution.

Stupid white-chocolate states.

Funny this subject came up...

After yesterday here in the States, I was craving a pick-me-up in the form of my favorite vice: chocolate. I went to the World Market to pick up some of my favorite Dutch chocolates, Droste pastilles. My husband likes the extra-dark, I like the pastilles that are half milk chocolate and half dark. Yum!

White chocolate.... bleh. Nasty stuff.

A local market sells slabs of Brazilian chocolate with minced hazelnuts. A big chunk of it makes an effective doorstop or a tasty snack. If you eat enough of it, you're guaranteed to be sick. It's fabulous.

Question for the anti-white-chocolate people: did you find Tootsie Rolls disappointing when you were children? They looked like chocolate, and I kept eating them as if one day they'd actually taste good. Never happened.

I got no bones with milk chocolate its white chocolate that makes me heave guys!

I've heard chocolate cocvered strawberries from Godiva are to die for.

p.s. Don't let Abs see you saying "white chocolate". You'll get a big speech about how it's not actually chocolate and on and on and on...

Too late.......If I were president, the term "white chocolate" would be stricken from the records and anyone using it would be forced into hard labor picking cacao beans.

I feel better now.

Hey, I've gotta say a couple words in defense of white chocolate: almond bark. Every Christmas I make a nice big batch of almond bark, and I've tried making it with various real chocolates, and it just doesn't taste as good to me. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing for me, as this was how my dad made it every Christmas when I was growing up. I'm not a fan of white chocolate as an all-purpose substitute for real chocolate in cooking and snacking, but when it comes to almond bark, there's no substitute for the... ummm... unreal thing.

Chocolate, is a good source of compounds called flavonoids that help maintain a healthy heart, promote good blood circulation, and reduce the risk of blood clots. A bar of dark chocolate contains as many flavonoids as four cups of tea, six apples, and 2 glasses of red wine.

Chocolate is also a good source of the minerals magnesium and phosphorus.

I only eat chocolate because of the flavonoids, the magnesium and the phosphorous.

I also have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale at an amazingly low price!

Because white chocolate has no cocoa solids from the chocolate liquor, the FDA doesn't classify it as chocolate. However, the organization is working with chocolate manufacturers to establish a standard definition for white chocolate. Until a standard is published, check labels and beware of "white chocolate" that contains vegetable fat instead of cocoa butter. The quality and taste are inferior.

I'm on a roll, this is my politics religion and sex all rolled into one.

It's good to be an expert on such important things, Abs. :)
