Eric Snowden chose The Guardian to disclose his evidence (top secrect documents) to a world he says needs to be aware of what the government of the USSA is up to...

...now, The Guardian tells us about Eric Snowden himself, now ensconced in a luxury hotel in Hong Kong:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/09/edward-snowden-nsa-whistleblower-surveillance

And then they provide us background on Snowden's employer and the former Booz Allen executive who's now the Director of the USSA's National Intelligence...

...and who has vowed to bring Snowden to justice:

Ok, so what if Obama really did'nt aprove this and hes being forced to go along with it. He was a constitutional professor after all this dosent fit.

Awesome. I worked for booz allen hamilton briefly while i lived in dc. So by extension, I'm a celebrity now. If i get a BAH tat on my forehead.

Your word, not mine.

I didn't know "spook" was racist - I'd never heard it in that context before. I thought of it as some sort of federal agent, like "Nixon sent his spooks to Watergate" or something along those lines. Weird - I wonder if the definitions are divergent.

That's what it is - a secret agent, although not necessarily American. And, of course, it's also another word meaning ghost.

"spook" can definitely be, is, and has been used hatefully toward blacks...

..."spook" is also used to label a spy.

playdeau's immaturely hateful problem is that he disingenuously saw a chance to bring his own hate into the thread by irrelevantly disregarding the clear intent of the word used directly addressing the core context of the story...

...and then irresponsibly blame someone else racially.

His name ain't playdeau for nothin'...

Snowden is no whistle blower anymore than the traitor Manning. He betrayed his oath and word. Of course he gave it to the terrorist loving Guardian. I'd love to Greenwald have to face all the people he slandered in a debate.

I hope we catch Snowden and try him

Your support for big unaccountable government, aswell as the Obama administration's security and intelligence doctrine, is duly noted.

If Snowden went to the media about something that has been perfectly legal for a dozen years... a thing we all should have known the government is doing because they pretty much told us they'd be doing it, then he's not a whisleblower. He's just a leaker.

If he can show that something illegal was going on then yes, he's a whislteblower.

thank you, Mr PED ANT ICK:cool:

If all Snowden did is to report the gov. snooping on millions of Americans, that is something worth blowing the whistle about. If he passed on any of the info, that is another matter.

If all that was done was to listen in on suspected terrorists, that might be justified. However, Obama is so slimy and corrupt, he may take the info gained and use it to smear GOP candidates in next year's elections. There is nothing too low and underhanded for this Chicago politician to do.

God I wish Obama was half the man you think he is.

Someone has made it all the way up to the "Adverbs" section in his GED class.

Heh. This is something people like me tried to tell people like you during the Bush years--be careful of the powers you're willing to grant to a President you like now, because those precedents will still apply when we have a President you don't like--and millions of people distrusted Bush as much as you distrust Obama.

I'm certainly pleased to see so many conservatives taking a new interest in civil liberties. However, this isn't really germane to the issue of whether Snowden can or should be prosecuted or not. Whether you agree with these programs or not, and I think they are way too broad and have been all along, the dissemination of classified information is a pretty big deal.

As to the OP...the problem for Snowden is that what NSA did was legal, whether or not we like it, and what Snowden did was illegal, whether or not we like that.

If someone wants to reverse FISA, more power to them. Until then, your data is being aggregated and algorithmed, and has been for more than a decade.

People who are against the govt listening to your conversations have something to hide. Most likely terrorist ties.

Isn't this what the right was preaching when the PATRIOT act was implemented?

Talk about a bunch of hypocritical whiny bitches.

Isn't that the way witch hunts go??
