Whining about Good News, for me at least

I'm having a moment. I've got a lot of stuff going on in my life right now, and I got some fairly good news the other day, and I've no idea if I should share it because I can't think it would mean a damned thing, except to me.

I like this site. I like the people. However, I don't think many people really read the stories I write. Whatever I do write seems to appeal to a very few, and it's lonely, people.

So, for the record, I have a story appearing in the fall issue of Moondance. It is the first story I ever submitted elsewhere, and was accepted last spring. I had submitted it here, too, but Moondance accepted it faster than it could make its way through the queue (sorry, Laurel).

Note: it is a woman's site, and very mystically feminine. Which may be my problem . . .

I need chocolate.

Well Babe, I will gladly read anything that you want me too.

If you like just Email me with the names of some of your stories and I will read them more than happily.

Hug to you babe.

CL~

I, for one, am very happy for you! What an accomplishment to have your work published. I do give a shit about what happens to you and all the others here. When you have good news, I am always interested to hear it. :)

Congratulations! So, we can read it online then? If you can give the address, please do..or email it to me.

Again, congrats...and keep the good news coming!

Congratulations, CL. You deserve all the accolades you can get.

I'm not sure what that means. Do you not get much email feedback, or do you not get much BB feedback? Something I've noticed is that people who spend a lot of time don't generally read as much as those who don't visit the BB.

I think it's because there's only so much time anyone has to spend online, so they may start out visiting Literotica for the stories, find the BB, and slowly but surely end up spending their time here instead of reading stories. However, we have around 2100 BB members, but the site gets 60,000-70,000 unique visitors a day (which translates into close to a million hits sitewide).

This means that the vast majority of people that come to Literotica don't make it over to the BB, or if they do, they don't sign up. So your stories are being read, and by thousands of people. How many take the time to send you feedback via email is another story. Some authors get more feedback than others, and it has nothing to do with the quality of the author.

As far as the queue remark, I'm not really sure what to say but to reiterate (again) that we are in the midst of setting up the new site scripts which, once set up, will mean that there won't be more than 24 hours between submission and posting on the site. For reasons that I've already gone into several times, it's not something we can just slap up and go with. Each of the 4000+ stories on site and 1300+ members & authors must be manually added to the database. We're considering getting help from a outside (temporarily) in inputting these because it's such an incredible amount of work on top of what we already have to do.

The volume of submissions has increased tenfold over the last six months. Our traffic has gone up an insane amount. It's flattering, because this means people are enjoying the site enough to come back. But at the same time, it's frustrating because we run the risk of losing authors like CreamyLady to sites that are able, for one reason or another, to post stories faster.

I appreciate everyone's patience during this difficult time, and promise that once the new scripts are in place readers and writers alike will be very pleased with Literotica.

On a side note, we are also working on a project that will be financially beneficial to those of you who write erotic novels. I won't say much more than that for now - I've discussed it with a few of you, but if there's anyone else here who has an erotic novel or two in your desk or on your hard drive, email me.

Laurel... we love you

Creamy tis true my dear.... its seldom us BB freaks get time to explore stories as we would wish...

And where do I find a mystically feminine?

Da chef

Laurel, it wasn't the backlog now I was talking about; this story was submitted when you were still switching servers.

I did submit a story back in June that hasn't appeared yet, but I figure it will emerge in its own good time. I understand that.

I get a few email feedbacks per story -- just two for each. It's gratifying, but if thousands are reading it, it feels as if my stuff appeals to only two. Well, except, maybe, for the person who copied elements of my story, Bindings; I suppose that was a fan letter of sorts.

I'm hot, I have a cold, I'm miserable, and I'm feeling very sorry for myself. I like writing, but I like being appreciated too -- if I'm not, I wonder why bother, which is not a good thing.

I'm going to get some Triple Brownie Overload. This is a crisis.
