The population of ALL of these states is gaining in population.. except California, which continues to be the national crazy train and is currently on fire. People are moving to lower tax, less government states faster than refugees leaving the Middle East. And the Northeast continues to bleed population and political clout as reappointment bleeds their representatives to these states as well.

I chose SC. Good weather if you exclude July and August. Ocean and wetlands. Low taxes. Great food.

Specifically, property and gas tax. Income tax on the high side.

Northeast becoming dull indeed. Plus it's cold.

If you enjoy being able kick back and burn one without the fear of a totally corrupted government blowing your doors off and trying you like you're a fucking terrorist and or desire to have a premium climate and or health care....Northern California is your place. Unless you've got a mil to drop though I wouldn't get within 2hrs of San Fran Jose or Los Diego.

Otherwise, all the other places are better in practically every way.

Personally I'd go VA/NC for a more balanced 4 season type climate, or drop some coin and get into one of FL's nicer spots down south for that premium fishing lifestyle.

It’s not cheap in the places I’d want to live: Naples, Key West, Jupiter, South Beach, Palm Beach, etc. Where it’s cheap...it should be.

California, because it really is the most vibrant, diverse, and progressive of states. Has the world's 6th largest economy, too -- 5th largest if the rest of USA is discounted. And it's growing.

If we moved anywhere (depending on where the kids and grandkids end up) we'd consider Washington or Oregon but no, because Cascadia Fault. We already tried Arizona but it's nutz there. Nevada is nowhere. The northern Rio Grande valley in New Mexico is mighty tempting -- around Española, maybe.

The uncivilized and inclement lands east of the Rockies are out of the question. We've spent time in the midwest, northeast (urban and rural), and the northern edge of the South -- and no, thank you. We've also spent time in Alaska and Hawai'i but they're both too far to anywhere.

Where else? We'll skip Canada and much of Mexico, but Chiapas state (culturally and formerly politically Guatemalan) is dear to us, even though it's poor. Oaxaca, Puebla, and Veracruz states have congenial areas and astounding landscapes. But Antigua Guatemala really shines. Yeah, we'd take La Antigua, and keep a close eye on the volcanoes.

Actually I'm a little farther north, about 230 miles. Like I said, the dead end. Keep moving, nothing here to interest anyone.

For years I had a bumper sticker that said,"If it's called tourist season, why can't we shoot 'em?"

Living in Florida is more expensive than NC, even with no state tax. NC has a nice balance of seasons. And you can visit the beach or mountains during a day trip. I live here so I voted NC.

Several wonderful countries from the point of view education, culture, health care, community spirit, and conviction about the things that really matter to me, such as environmental responsibility and successful ethnic diversity. Seatle around 15 yrs ago was listed #1 in NA and 4th worldwide in quality of life.

The USofA is the Greatest nation on the face of this planet. Enjoy you're cultural mix.

I spent last week there, its unacceptable that people do not know how to speak english - even airport staff!! I'm no longer that hot on florida due to that as well.

How come no one's saying a world about Texas?
