Which forum?

I have an incomplete series. I don't want to scrap it nor do I have the desire to finish it. If I were looking for a Author to finish the series, where (which Forum) would I post it? I had previously assumed that it would be in the story idea section, but with it being an approved continuation of another Author's work, I wasn't sure.

Give yourself some time, man. I took 2 years off from my ongoing series and came back to publish two more chapters recently. Fans of the series were happy to see me finally continuing it. You may not be feeling it now, but don't be so hasty to rule it out.

Yeah, part one of what I mentioned was posted in '15. I put in on Story Ideas a few months ago. Only in the last week or so did I get back to it and put up parts 2 and 3. I left it open for a part 4, but may never get to it.

I'm not quite sure why people think there's a demand for other writers to take over their stories and finish them. Why would the second writer ever want to do that? If you're not inspired enough to finish, why would anybody else be? I don't get it.

It isn't at all rare for us to hear from writers who want to take on unfinished stories by others, and readers who want writers to take on unfinished stories. You actually responded on one such thread very recently.

I wanted someone to take mine on because I wanted a different point of view since it would focus on a different character. I wanted it written in a different style, almost like a collaboration.

My suggestion: Identify one or more authors with whom you have some rapport and whose writing style you like and see if they are interested in taking over the story.

It's much more effective to have a relationship and reach out to a person with a specific proposal than to throw something out there to the world in general. You need a hook to get someone interested.

I still have ample demand from my readers to add to the story. I started it with hopes of working through some things and as it turns out, I wasn't ready to broach the subject. I have also seen three different threads in the last month of people wanting to continue dead stories. I am sorry if you find this offensive but to each their own. I'm at an impasse. I hate unfinished work, and I don't want to scrap it. It is what it is.

I don't know if I have a rapport with other authors on the site. I would of course like to. I just figured I would dangle it out there and see what bit. Thanks everyone for your insight on this.

What story? It could be a fun thing to try.

I know readers are always wanting extenda-stories, but a writer spruiking their own to extend is just odd, to me.

It's a story about my brother dying. I thought I was ready to write it, I was wrong. It may be odd, but I don't want to write the ending. Sorry if this offends.

That sounded a bit snippy. I'm sorry if I sounded upset, that wasn't my intention. It is odd to look for someone to finish a story for me. I don't want to delete it, and it is too painful to continue. This was one of a few avenues that I was looking into.

I can see how unfinished series upset readers, hell I’ve been on the receiving side so much that nowadays I go check the last chapter’s comments before I even start reading, and if there’s complaints about it not being finished I carefully consider if I even want to get into it. So I see why there is the desire to have someone, anyone, finish the story. What I don’t really see is how and why another author would want to take it on instead of writing their own.

No harm in trying, though, so good luck. I also second the comment that you can wait a year or two and see if you feel like continuing then, it’s not unfinished series until you say it is, even if it is in a state of incompleteness ;)

Thank you. Right now I'm just looking at what's out there. It's looking like I will just have to wait until I can finish it myself.

That's too personal for anyone else to write. It doesn't offend, but that's a really strange request to see on an erotica website. I wasn't expecting that as an explanation of your intent.

I can agree with that. This is just an avenue I was trying to look into.

Well, you do get some very strange stories on Literotica, that you wouldn't see in many other places. Laurel has a very broad view of these things.

(Cough cough)

Not that I'd know.

I would find it impossible to do. Even writing sequels to my earlier stories involves trying to get back to the author I was then. That is hard.

Trying to complete someone else's story? I couldn't do that.

There's no harm in asking. You shouldn't hesitate to do that if you're interested. But it's obviously an extremely difficult and personal story and it's unlikely another person would be able to write it to satisfy whatever drives you to write the story in the first place. Best of luck to you.

If it's that personal, it sounds like a story only you could do justice too, so just wait until the time is right. You'll do a far better job on your own concept than anyone else ever will.
