This might be fun and silly. Whatever.

Old Guard Leather (Lotsa rules)
New Guard Leather (Bendin' those lotsa rules)
Leather (Fuck the Guard)
Old Guard Punk (Those who were punks during the first and second wave)
New Guard Punk (Those who follow skater, crust, d-beat styles)
Goth-Punk (Industrial and goth, both.)
Raver (There were rules? Shit....)
Furry (Fuzzy hand cuffs are not lame)
Fantasy (We hang around each other's houses and play DnD and it goes from there... of we're watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail)
Sci-Fi (We play Starcraft and Halo and it goes from there... or we're watching Spaceballs)

and so on and so forth...

Raver and sci-fi are the crowds that best fit me I think.

This is serious research for a sociology paper btw.

*nods*

How many boxes can we fit ourselves into?

I sum up my generational moment like this:

recently I was watching a Beastie Boys video. And I remember saying to my husband "dude, I had those pants when I got to college."

I think that speaks volumes.

Sci Fi and Fantasy.

I used to be a big fan of Halo...if any of you Halo cats out there play it enough, you might run into a game called "Freeze Tag"...you can thank me and my friends for that fun! :nana:

I <3 Starcraft.

I want a Zergling for Christmas

Beastie Boys have been around since 1979. Which video was this?

I'd like to answer but have a DVD from season 2.5 of Battlestar Galactica to watch - there were a couple episode I missed.

Xelebes when I saw the Thread title my first reaction was to quote this........

I'm in with the "in" crowd
I go where the "in" crowd goes.
I'm in with the "in" crowd
And I know what the "in" crowd knows.
Any time of the year
don't you hear?
Dressin' fine
makin' time
We breeze up and down the street.
We get respect from the people we meet
They make way day or night.
They know the "in" crowd is out of sight.
I'm in with the "in" crowd
I know ev'ry latest dance.
When you're in with the "in" crowd
It's easy to find romance.
At a spot where the beat's really hot.
If it's square we ain't there.
We make ev'ry minute count.
Our share is always the biggest amount.
Other guys imitate us
But the original's still the greatest.
We got our own way of walkin'
We got our own way of talkin'
Any time of the year
don't you hear?
Spendin' cash
talkin' trash.
Girl
I'll show you a real good time.
Come on with me and leave your troubles behind
I don't care where you've been
You ain't been nowhere till you been in -
With the "in" crowd.

A more accurate answer concerns the 2nd sentance in my signature line ;)

------------ sorry, couldn't resist the next line ---------->

"I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER."
Groucho and Me (1959), cited by Groucho Marks many times

:p

Personal Dress Style: American Conservative.

Political Bent: American Extreme Libertarian, Fiscal Conservative, Social Progressive, with some Socialist leanings.

Fuck I don't remember even. Early 90's, very grunge. Knicks T shirt and skater pants. I had that outfit.

as for what kind of punk - post, proggish/conceptual and romantic. Stranglers, possibly the most underrated band ever. Ramones. Jonathan Richman. (Pablo Picasso is punk, mofos.) John Cale. Billy Bragg.

So probably Intergalactic.

But yeah, you sound old guard punk. :)

Neon, dear child, as a punk in the early 80s I had a dark secret: When the others didn't watch I ogled the boys of bands like Haircut 100 etc.

But actually the spats are very in style with the Blitz kid crowd which were considered punk/new romatic back then-- new romantic was a sub section of the late 70s /early 80s punk.

So if you insist: New Romantic/New Wave too (and yes, I was an Adam Ant fan when I was 12, and I'm proud of it :D )

PS: Netzach-- Stranglers Yeah! :nana:

The crowd usually always hung around me. Probably because there was no telling what I would do next.

Well, thank you, Bredon dear! You have indeed broadened my knowledge of music history - not to mention I am looking up the groups. Inquiring minds... :rose: Neon

(Now see, Ms. Rebecca, ask and it shall be given... ;) )

Never heard of "New Romantic" music before. You must be real old guard.
