Stock market illiterate here.

What does a point represent in, you know, anything real? Percents? Cents? Alan Greenspan's wrinkles?

LIAR

I think its a CENT based on the average combined cost of the DOW JONES stocks.

DJ changes the mix of stocks occassionally. Like...they drop harness makers, bustle manufacturers, and 8 track tape players THEN add stuff like Britney Spears MELTDOWN videos, Obama autobiographies, and Clinton criminal investigations.

Is bail-out money gonna be used to help Osama bin Laden's investments?

I listened to a discussion about the economy this morning.

The panel concluded that Bush is a dunce, and his inept team will soon be gone. So dont expect much to happen between now and 20 January. Plus we dont know who the winner of the election is OR the names of their players.

So people are uncertain, and hanging on to their money. I mean, McCain or Obama could be idiots. The panel concluded that neither man has a clue.

I thought it was a sex education thread for people interested in anal. Really, really dumb people, sure.
Yeah, except if you think the really really smart people are more interested in sex.

The DOW is now in the 8000s.

You wise guys didnt figure on Bush doing the spanking.

It is, if the company has good intrinsic value. And smart money is picking up some deals. BUT the market is deflating, and THAT compels people to wait for even better deals. During the GREAT DEPRESSION the fat cats bought blue chips for nothing.

Makes me glad that I took a bigger position in precious metals a month ago. I think you'll see a big up tick once the stock prices hit or get close to asset value.

Watch out for commodity metals like copper and zinc and aluminum. They may drop like rocks once manufacturing collapses.

Two months ago oil was on its way to the stars, and today its less than $87 a barrel.
