I appreciate on any recommendation on where to stay and what to do in Maui with family.

Possibly renting a car and staying one of the resorts in Wailea.

Golf, swim, sail, surf, hike, eat. Stay anywhere. Thirty minutes on Google or ten minutes with your hotel concierge will exhaust your possibilities. It's not that big of a place.

Wailea has better beaches compared to other places. And, that made a difference!

illegally overthrow the monarchy and then annex the territory for use as a future pacific base.

oh, wait. it's been done. never mind.

There's a little place down by the beach that serves the best fried Spam on the islands.

Wailea is nice, especially if you want to hang around the resort. Found some nice snorkeling by the Fairmont that wasn't to rough on my kids (they're pretty young).
Some of the nicest beaches for kids are in Kihei. There's a nice strip there with shops, restaurants, with nice park / beach areas across the street if you want to picnic it.

Big Beach, south of Wailea, is nice too, if you are renting a car.

If you get a car and your kids can hack it, there are some pretty spectacular waterfalls along the Road to Hana that you can hike into.

Lahaina is worth a day trip or two, depending on your length of stay. Best beaches are by the hotels (there is public parking to be found, just watch for signs) and there is some nice beachside dining to be had there, to watch the sunset and have a few drinks. Nice shopping out that way too.

Some nice snorkel beaches just north of there as well. Check guide books as most, like the waterfalls along the Road to Hana, are indicated by mile markers.

Mama's Fish House, without question.

Skip the seven simpering pools.

Hana's cool but the road to Hana will sorely test a relationship.

Sunrise at Haleakala is highly overrated, especially after a night of partying.

Snorkel with frozen peas and you'll have fun.

At The Shops at Wailea, the Tommy Bahama Restaurant has killer coconut shrimp.

Drive to Napili and have breakfast at The Seahouse. At least one of you should order the Haleakala Pancake.

Flatbreads in Paia is a lovely lunch or dinner. I recommend the Kalua Pork flatbread.

And, there is a gal at the Maui Swap Meet who sells the best coconut macaroon ever.

If you've never been, the Iao Needle is cool. The road to Hana is long and is only as fun as the people you are with. Driving around the north end of the island is fun, but go slow as the road has a zillion blind corners and is only 1 1/4 lanes wide.

Lots nice beaches and snorkeling is a blast. I thought there were more turtles to see up by Napili.

And then, there's the fucking whales, if you're in season. They're breaching everywhere.

Have fun.

Have fun.

Haleakala National Park, atop a volcano. Drive carefully - it takes something like two hours to get to the top, but it's worth it to be 10,000 feet above sea level. The view is the closest thing to looking into the eyes of God I can imagine.

Also, admission is $10 per car.

Otherwise, be prepared to spend a comparative fuckton of money. We went there for my wife's 30th birthday and ended up spending way the hell more than we ever dreamed of.

Or if on a budget, get a lawn chair to set in the shade of a palm tree, pick up a cheap cooler to put ice and coke in and get a bottle of dark maui rum from the ABC Store. The rum's not near as good as that from the Koloa Rum Co. on Kauai, but after a couple, who cares.

I usually fuck a hot Polynesian guy, but that may not be for you.

You are correct, I would prefer a hot Polynesian woman!

We need to check further to those hiking places to see if they would work out for the kids.

Fresh fish is always good! Will give it a try...

Duly noted! I want to keep the marriage going!

I am sure it is not going to be much more than a European vacation. Although, with the Grexit, it may be less expensive to go to Europe... Driving up and having some moments atop the volcano is appealing...

Thank you all!
Do they have helicopter tours worth taking?

If you're a fan, visit Fleetwood's. If not, find Leoda's Kitchen.

Stay in any hotel you can find & do hookers & blow until you have to return home.

I did a helicopter tour. It was fun.

I also did a Zodiac tour...that was fun, too.

Are you just going to Maui?

I know I suggested Mama's Fish House but, if you go to Lahiana, there is a very small place at the north end called Mala's. Looks a bit shacky but has great food and is always hard to get into. Great views of the bay and usually some sea turtles to watch.

I think we are going with the helicopter tour! Zodiac or some kind of a boat tour may be added as well. We need to watch out the program and make sure the tween and teenager are both happy :-0

If you gotta ask...

...you shouldn't go.

There are lot of things that I should not be doing, but this is not one of them!
