Where to Place Your Work

Many stories can be placed in various categories. Here on Lit, what are the most read categories? I know Incest is tops, but I do not write much of that. Just don't have the knack, I suppose. My stories in that genre just end up being conventional tales with names changed to Mommy, Daddy oir Granny. I am unable to really get into the headspace of the participants.

Fuck my mom? I can barely stand talking to mine ...

So, besides that group, what are the most read categories? Which categories have you had the most reads/feedback posting in?

I have had the exact same problem, I'm not much help. I learned with my first story that you don't put cheating stories in loving wives, though, because you will get e-mails from people calling you a slut... (damn it, it's FICTION!)

As long as they're loving somebody, I don't see the problem.

Yes, I can understand that. While I've been off the board, I've seen, heard, and experienced some interesting thinks (maybe to some). I was looking around the board to find a category that would be very interesting. Interracial relationships may have a chance, if it's mixed up a bit.

To answer the original question on this thread, you need to do a little research. Go to the top stories, all time reads. You will see incest dominating. But other categories sneak in more frequently as you go down the list.

Check the categories you post in for the answer that applies to you.

I buy good quality underwear.

One other note about placing stories.

Literotica has one unique feature I have never seen on any other erotic fiction site - the search feature.

I wish people requesting stories would use it. Find out what is already here. Acknowledge what has been done, and where a request fills a gap in the story offerings.

For authors, we can search and see if a title has been used. Also, variations on titles can be researched. The key word search lets us check for duplicate scenarios in a category.

I have gotten the most views on my Lesbian Sex stories. They're not the best rated, but they've gotten the most votes their first weeks and the most views...more views than my NonConsent story that ended up #3 on the "new" list. That's impressive.

On the same token, my story placed in the group sex category literally has ten times as many views as some of my others. It also has twice as many people who have voted on it as any of my other stories. <SNIP!> Does that help?
