There is of course the extremely excellent Dutch symphonic metal band featuring Simone Simmons.

Another excellent symphonic metal band Kamelot has a song '3 Ways to Epica' and an album entitled 'Epica'.

But my Search Fu is FU in that it can't find discussion of the term as a place, mythical place or concept.

I queried Perplexity, and this is what it returned.

Epica is not known as a major real‑world geographic place, but the name appears in several fictional settings and franchises, most notably in Star Wars as a remote planet.

Star Wars: Epica
In the Star Wars Expanded Universe (Legends), Epica is the name of a planet that hosted the Hydians Auction House during the Yuuzhan Vong War. The auction house was moved there because Epica was considered remote enough that major galactic powers and invaders were unlikely to interfere, which is why it is mostly referenced in connection with black‑market or high‑end trading activity.

Use as a fantasy realm name
The name “Epica” is also used as a generic label for fantasy realms or settings in smaller creative projects. For example, an independent short film titled “Enter the Realm of Epica” uses Epica as a mystical world of prophecy and enchanted forests, framing it as a classic high‑fantasy location rather than a real place. In these cases, Epica functions more as a stylistic, evocative name than as a fixed, widely shared mythology.

Aside from, "this sounds cool and epic to name our thing," I'd assume it's a technically incorrect attempt to make a word for 'things which are epic'.

Like ephemera - things which are ephemeral.

I don't get the fascination with T. Too screechy. NW accelerated rapidly once she was gone. I don't like the issue with Annette though. They should have worked with her through that. Floor has brought an entirely new era though.

And I still don't have any answer to the main question, so maybe there isn't a source for the word.

It's Acipe spelled backwards

Anette was always going to be a short-timer. She couldn't sing the band's best songs. The pregnancy might have been one reason they let her go, but it wasn't the only one.

Dark Passion Play IS among their best. Before that ... not so much.

They only got better after DPP.
