Where is the universal condemnation of Palestinian war crimes?

Where is the universal condemnation of Palestinian war crimes? Why have we heard no protests from the Christian world at the barbarous taking of priests as hostages at the Church of the Nativity? Why, when the press presents emotional accounts of Palestinians unable to reach hospitals because the ambulances in which they were traveling were stopped at Israeli checkpoints, are we never told that many ambulances have been found ferrying bombs and weapons (another violation of the Geneva Convention)?

Where is the outcry about the summary execution of Palestinians "suspected" of "collaborating" with Israel? Why no protests from human rights groups about the Palestinian practice of strapping belts of explosives on children as young as 10 and sending them out as human bombs? Is this not child sacrifice, circa 2002?

Why do those who accuse Israel of "excessive" force against the Palestinians not consider that the easiest course for Israel, if she truly had no compunctions about causing civilian casualties, would have been to attack Jenin and other terror nests from the skies (as we did in Afghanistan), instead of going house-to-house, risking (and losing) the lives of her soldiers?

If the deaths of 70 or so armed combatants in Jenin is sufficient to move the United Nations to investigate the possibility of war crimes, why has the U.N. not been moved by the massacre of 1 million Sudanese black Christians at the hands of their Muslim rulers? How about the deaths of untold numbers of Muslims by the Russians in Chechnya? What about the persistent attacks on Hindus in India by Muslims -- a ghastly firebomb attack on a train full of people (the terrorists locked the doors after torching the train) being one of the more recent examples?

Why has the United Nations never investigated China for gunning down hundreds in Tiananmen Square and killing thousands of others more quietly? Why has the U.N. never investigated Saddam Hussein for gassing his Kurdish population or the Syrian government for the massacre at Hama, in which up to 20,000 were killed in one day?

And why, pray, could the United Nations, as well as Europe and the rest of the world (with the shining exception of the United States of America), never bat an eye as innocent Israelis were bombed and maimed on a daily basis for 18 months to the evident delight of even "moderate" Arab states.

And why, with this despicable record, do liberals continue to hold the "world community" in such awe?

Why could the United States Senate not bring itself to drill for oil in one-hundredth of one percent of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge -- an area of frozen tundra about the size of Dulles Airport -- even though the region would bring in an estimated 1.3 million barrels of oil per day, about what we currently import from our fine friends, the Saudis?

And why do four out of five American Jews continue to vote Democrat? At the pro-Israel rally in Washington, D.C., Republicans and conservatives -- including (smelling salts please) Christian conservatives -- were well represented. On the op-ed pages and on television news, as the peerless William Safire has observed, it is conservatives who are morally committed to Israel's security and liberals whose sympathies go toward the Palestinians.

National polls show the same thing. Here's the Gallup poll: "Throughout the 1990s, Republicans consistently gave larger margins of support to the Israelis over the Palestinians than did the Democrats." A recent poll found that 67 percent of Republicans support Israel, versus only 8 percent supporting the Palestinians. Among Democrats, only 45 percent support Israel, while 21 percent favor the Palestinians. Among conservatives, 59 percent support Israel, while only 41 percent of liberals say they do. Forty percent of liberals prefer the Palestinians. Fifty-four percent of whites support Israel, versus only 38 percent of non-whites.

Since supporting the Palestinians means winking at the most vile anti-Semitism since Hitler, and since so many liberals seem comfortable doing so, doesn't this trump other issues (like abortion) that cause Jews to vote Democrat? Isn't a reassessment of Jewish political loyalties overdue?

In 1932, publisher Robert Vann recommended that blacks depart the Republican Party. "Go turn Lincoln's picture to the wall," he said. "That debt is paid in full." American Jews ought now to do the same to the picture of the man Vann supported -- FDR. Jews have many old enemies, but some loyal friends among American conservatives.

I believe the letter of condemnation is on file at Olympic Headquarters in Munich.

Hasn't the author of the church heard what the catholic priests been doing lately?

I think you mean the letter of condemnation over the PLO.

After all we Brits blamed the IRA during its terror campaign.

It never occurred to us to blame the Irish people...

So, you'd rather look at my ass than my face??? well, I never!!!

Well, I did that one time but its a secret! ;)

Good thread, Miles.

I have often wondered some of the same things.

The earliest recognition of terrorists that I have, were the PLO.

Having discussed Israel with many Jewish American friends, I understand their fervor and claim to a Holy Land that is documented 2,000 years ago in the Bible. Yet, the muslims treat them like outsiders who don't belong.

You hear Europeans accentuate the bloodshed as if the Palestinians were victims, constantly ignoring the terrorist activity and deaths that prompted it.

Terrorists Win, Bush Calls It a Hopeful Day
Steve Malzberg
Monday, April 29, 2002

Here we go again. Let me first give you the bottom line results, and then I'll explain just how we arrived at where we are now in the latest chapter of "Arafat Wins Again."
In a day or so, Yasser Arafat, the mother of all terrorists, the man Israel holds directly responsible for most of the terrorist attacks that have slaughtered hundreds of innocent Israeli women and children, the man they have had surrounded in his terrorist headquarters in Ramallah for a month, the man who has been harboring wanted terrorists in his offices during that time, the man who has now been linked directly to homicide bombers through documents recovered from his headquarters, the man Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon calls an enemy of Israel, will be free to come and go as he pleases once again.
And President George Bush says the deal that makes this all possible marked "a hopeful day for the region."
Besides setting Arafat free, the deal, which was proposed by Bush and agreed to by a 17-9 vote in the Israeli Cabinet, will allow six wanted terrorists who have been holed up with their leader to be moved to a Palestinian prison, where they will be guarded by British and American "guards."
The men include the assassins of Israeli tourism minister Rehavam Zeevi; Fuad Shubaki, the mastermind of the attempt to smuggle 50 tons of weapons to Arafat and his murderers aboard an Iranian ship, which was foiled by the Israelis; and another of Israel's most wanted, believed to be the head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
Originally, Israel had demanded that before Arafat could go free, the six terrorists would have to surrender, to be tried for their crimes in Israel or agree to be deported out of the country. Originally, President Bush agreed with those conditions.
It was just two weeks ago, in between one of his "Israel has the right to defend itself" speeches and one of his "Israel must stop now" speeches. Bush said that if the men holed up inside the compound with Arafat killed an Israeli Cabinet minister in cold blood, they needed to be brought to justice.
But you see, that was two weeks ago, a period in time I like to refer to as B.S.P. That's before the Saudi prince came to call on our president at his Texas ranch. You know, the get-together where the two men found that they have so much in common. They took a ride in Bush's pickup truck and even saw a wild turkey! Oh boy!
I guess such shared experiences are enough to make our president overlook the small misdeeds of the Saudis. You know, like that two-day telethon broadcast on official government-run Saudi TV and radio (everything there is government run). The one that raised millions of dollars to support the families of Palestinian homicide bombers.
I guess Bush can forget about the fact that the host of that very telethon, a close friend to the Saudi royal family, gave a speech in which he called for the enslaving of Jewish women. Those remarks were made on a tape called "A Monkey Desecrates Mosque." The tape captured his speech, which was made at a Riyadh government mosque. The monkey refers to – who else – Jews.
"Muslim Brothers in Palestine, do not have any mercy neither compassion on the Jews, their blood, their money, their flesh. Their women are yours to take, legitimately. G-d made them yours. Why don't you enslave their women? Why don't you wage jihad? Why don't you pillage them?"
Nice stuff, eh? I guess President Bush is unaware of this.
Yes, we should have all known that in Bush's A.P.(after prince) world he would look at things differently.
When the meeting had ended, Bush came out alone and once again told the press that Israel has to end its military operations. A day later Bush assured the world that the United States will not let Israel "be crushed." How comforting if you are a supporter of the Jewish state.
What exactly does that mean? Instead of saying "The U.S. will always stand behind Israel. They are a democracy. If anyone thinks that they can push Israel into the sea, they have another think coming," he comes out with "They won't be crushed"!
Bush might have said those things B.S.P., but not A.P.
That brings us up to date, more or less.
Oh yes, there was a terrorist attack on Saturday in the Israeli settlement of Adora. It must have been pretty insignificant, though. I mean, I didn't hear President Bush condemn it or even reference it in his remarks on Sunday.
After all, when compared to the usual carnage suffered by Israeli civilians, it just didn't measure up, I guess. Just four people were killed and seven people were wounded in the attack on the settlement near the West Bank town of Hebron. (As I write this, reports have started coming in of Israeli tanks rolling into Hebron from two directions. Retaliation, I hope.)

[HEY p_p_ ******************************************]

One of those killed by the Hamas monsters, dressed as Israeli soldiers, was a 5-year-old girl. Danielle Shefi was hiding under her bed, hoping that the shooters would leave. Animal-like, the cowards hunted her down and shot her dead. They also wounded her 4-year-old brother.

[HEY p_p_ ******************************************]

No, my friends, not big numbers out of this attack. I mean, this attack isn't going to crush Israel, is it? So let's ignore it. Or better yet, let's celebrate it on the very day it occurred, with a proposal that sets Yasser Arafat free and prevents his trained animals from facing justice in an Israeli court. What a great idea, Mr. President.
Yes, we are now living in George Bush's A.P. world. And Arafat wins again.

With a name like that you have to doubt his impartiality...

Are these "facts" correct. As I'm always being asked for my sources I'll ask the same question. Sources?

If true its indefensible, if not it's also indefensible to make it look like "fact".

It obviously hasn't occured to the writer to check out the possibility that Crown Prince Abdullah agreed Bush could take the credit for these latest moves.

In a belated attempt to distance himself from Israel...

Well that's one of the slants in Europe anyway. And let's face it Bush needs to distance himself as fast as he can.

And when you see sarcasm written about the President of the United States and a visiting Arab dignitary you know the Jewish propaganda machine is cranking up a gear...

I bet they're getting worried now about world reaction.
