Laurel,

I was one of the winners in the 2005 Holiday Contest. After I won I emailed you about how to claim my prize and you replied:

-------------
Congratulations! Simply send us a name to which we can make out the check, along with a mailing address. The envelope & check will come from ******* MEDIA, not Literotica. Please make this email directed to "contest@literotica.com" so that it gets to us quickly. On behalf of the readers as well as Manu & I, thanks for your wonderful work, and hope to read more from you!

take care and be well,
Laurel

I have tried to be patient and to handle this off the public forums but I have sent three email to both the above address and Info@literotica.com. Not only have I not received any prize check but I have not even received the courtesy of a response to any of these emails.

It was also stated on the contest page that there was a cash prize. I now see that it has been changed to say "Special Bonus Prize". I was hoping to donate the cash prize to the cancer research fund per my posting on my story.

Are these contests a sham? I have stop posting stories as I'm am not comfortable now with how this is being handled.

Will you please promplty tell take care of this?

Are you sure you e-mailed when you sent the personal information? Or did you send a PM (private message)?

Laurel rarely answers e-mails as Literotica receives thousands every day.

I won the Halloween Contest, and I received my cheque quite promptly.

Try PMing Laurel. I've had nothing but good experiences with the owners of this site. I'm very sorry there's been a problem in your case.

Hi there,

Thanks for writing, and congratulations on your win.

I checked my mail and do not see a reply to the email we sent to you. Please PM me with exactly what you wrote and I will respond asap.

As for as the prizes, the original contest announcement can be found here:

As you can see, in the original contest announcement the prize structure is listed as follows:

First Place: $700

As your story won fourth place, you have won an $50 Amazon gift certificate to be sent via email. So that we can send you your gift certificate via email, please PM me with the email address to which you would like the certificate sent, and make sure your email spam filters are set so the certificate can reach you.

Congratulations again, and take care!

I hope that answers your question, and gets things resolved.

Going by Laurel's reply, I'm thinking Cross may have lost his prize in his spam filter. Definitely should contact Laurel by pm, and get it sorted.

So sorry for this 'glitch', and hope this will not stop you from writing or entering more competitions, all of which are completely genuine and above board. I know many of the AH members who have won competitons, and all received their prizes promptly.

Fourth? I was fourth. Oh, who cares now? :p

Of course you should care. $50 Amazon certificate? Hell yes!! PM Laurel, as per all other instructions, and explain that you didn't know until this thread. It can't hurt. :)

No, no. I got my prize as soon as the contest was over. I just noticed that Laurel's message mentioned XCL as being in fourth place, but that was me.

Ooops. Gotcha. My bad. Reading in the dark, no glasses, half asleep. Probably not the best of ideas.

Going back to bed.

I know of a few people who have received their checks promptly. Me personally, I came in third a couple of times on the monthly contests, but I just PM'd them and told them to donate the money to charity or take themselves out for lunch...

When I was one of the top three for a contest I received my check very fast... used it to take myself out to dinner at a place that I love

PM Laurel?

How does one PM Laurel? I guess I have to PM on the Valentine's Contest. I wasn't aware I had to do anything, but now I see that was "Duh!'" thinking on my part.

Hm. You know, someone should really set up a list of A.H. Charities to send such money to--appropriate ones like the Comic Book Legal Defense which protects free speech in comic books, or a group that protects erotic writers/publishers, etc.

The money received for the Coming Together series all went to the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Except for the Hurricane edition which went to The Red Cross for Katrina relief.

Og donated his winnings in the Free Speech Contest to buy books for the library at Pine Ridge, and Laurel and Manu matched it, I think.
