Im not a well traveled person!

I have been to..
Pennsylvania (born and raised just like the corn and cows)
New Jersey
Deleware
Maryland
Virginia
D.C. (best fourth of July of my life.. There was a riot on the Metro)
Ohio
Illinois
Indiana
New York
Connecticut

Maryland, I was born and raised in Baltimore
Virginia
Pennsylvania, my mom lives there
D.C.
West Virginia, I live here now, almost 2 years.
Thats it, I lead a boring life.

It's funny how many people won't admit they've been here, but they go places where they at least have to drive through here.

I have been to every U.S. state except for Hawaii, Alaska, and North Dakota. I have also been to several cities in Mexico (mostly along the U.S. boarder like New Galus), and to Quebec, Montreal, Vancouver, and Victoria, Canada.

Memorable moments:
In '90 I was in the nation's capital for July 4th. There was a huge outdoor concert followed by fire works.

Along the nation's SW, my sister and I got into a fist fight at Four Corners trying to be the first to stand on it. lol (Hey, it's called family facations in a car, trapped with a sibling only 11 mos. younger than you.)

I loved all of the beautiful mansions and the cliff walk in Newport, R.I. My favorite was the Rosecleff (which was the home used in the movie The Great Gastby).

But, so far, an area that has stood out to me a lot, would have to be the mountains of Napa Valley, Ca. It is very different than Southern Ca. It is peaceful and serene and quite. I love it!

Okay lets see, you may not know these places as some of them are in my country.

Melbourne
Brisbane
Tasmania
Darwin
Northern Territory

Worldwide

Singapore
London
Manchester
Blackpool
Liverpool
Kent
Los Angeles (then Disneyland, which is a world of it's own)
Hawaii

Wow I haven't been far have I? But I enjoyed each and every one of those places for many different reasons.

Scotland is Awsome

Growing up as an air force brat, I traveled all over the US and lived 6 years in the UK. As a young adult, I traveled the world as an engineer assigned to trouble shooting electrical equipment for the oil patch. Later, I traveled just about everywhere there is oil exploration as an applications and sales engineer. There are very few places I haven't been and, for the most part, have enjoyed it immensely.

Like most people, I judged a country by its people. I won't name the bad spots but I have been in hellholes where the people have no regard for human life and the stench would choke a horse. It sure makes one appreciate home.

My absolute favorite foreign country [anyplace outside of Texas] is Scotland. The people are happy, friendly, down-to-earth, and would give you the shirt off their back. The land of kangaroos and koala bears run a close second along with Canada (at least Alberta). Any place in South America where you don't fear for your life is pretty good too.

Yep, I believe it is. Come through here again and we'll make it a visit you won't forget ;)

I've visited:
California
Colorado
Arizona
New Mexico
Oklahoma
Missouri
Nebraska
Arkansas

*sigh* I need to get out more

If I try to leave the house, my ankle bracelet goes off, and the next thing you know there are cops everywhere......

These are a few of the places I have been

France Worked
Germany (DDR & BDR) Worked
Belgium Worked
Holland
Spain
Portugal
Morocco Worked
Algeria
Tunisia
Kenya
Italy
Switzerland
Yugoslavia
Austria

Thailand
Malaysia
Singapore
Hong Kong
Japan
Australia (not allowed in mutter mutter)
USA- Hawaii California Arizona NYC Connecticut Maine

I have memories about all of them, mostly good ones with the occasional bad one thrown in.

EZ

Countries

Canada (until they found out I had a DWI in 1971 and then, poof! instant Canadian felon!)

Korea
Vietnam (would love to go back now)

States
all but Maine, New Hampshire,Vermont, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Louisiana.

My Favorite(s)
Washington and Oregon.
There is such a differance, not so much between the states as between the east and west of each state. The tall forests of the coast offset by the desert conditions of the East. Love it.

One day I will see the northeast and the Atlantic coast. A friend and I are planning on circumnavigating the continental US on our bikes. Who-Waa! Motorcycle heaven!
We are also talking about shipping them to New Zeland for a month. I'd love to spend time riding the islands. Or maybe Ireland, or Europe! If I live long enough we will do them all!

EZ

Not allowed in what exactly? The country? Well hell man what have you done?

Oh and just so you know, you'd be very welcome in me ;)

At the end of the cough 1970's cough...

They had some silly rules about the amount of money you needed before they would allow you to enter Australia.

The rules were that you had to have the money to support yourself for 6 months, and this worked out to £2500 per person.

We only had £3700 between two of us and they wouldn't let us in, the fact that we had hair to our collars, and had been into the Goldern Triangle did not enthuse them either.

One day I have said I will get back there and get to see more than the airport lounge.

EZ

Ps. We used to send them all our people with criminal records, now they wont let you in if you have one LMAO.

Ezzy I am so sorry.

I know I live here, but seeing some of the places that I have, we do Have a gorgeous country, and it's a pity you didn't see more of it than the Airport Lounge.

Should you make it again I hope that you have a great time here :)

UNITED STATES

California - Bay Area, LA. I wouldn't live in LA, but the Bay Area is nice. I've got a lot of good friends there.

Iowa - Boone, Des Moines. Cows. Lots and lots of cows.

Maryland - Rockville. There is a restaurant there called the Melting Pot. Book reservations. Go now. You know you want to.

Minnesota - I was a kid last time I was there. My father, brother, and I spent a day fishing on Lake Kabetogama. That was fun.

Oregon - I'm from a small logging town in this state, but I've lived in Eugene for the past ten years. It's a beautiful state. One of my fondest memories from living here is a trip I went on a few years ago with a friend of mine. We went way into the wilderness looking for a ghost town called Bohemia City. After tumbling down a rocky escarpment, we arrived bruised and battered at the remains of the city... only to find the access road that leads right to it. Oh well, our method was more adventerous.

Pennsylvania - Pittsburgh. I loved the place. I have a good friend who lives there. There is a computer terminal in the Warhol Museum with internet access, so while I was there, I brought up a web page with some of the artwork I've done. So I can say my work has been shown at the Warhol Museum. :)

Virginia - Richmond. I was there for a party. Too drunk to remember the details. Must've had fun.

Washington - Washinton is a gorgeous state, and I've been fortunate to travel large portions of it. However, it's a confusing state to the poor Oregonian mind. For example, I don't get the street signs with a picture of golf clubs on them and nothing else. Comshaw? What's up with that? My best guest is it's a special driving lane for doctors. :)

Washington DC - I was with a friend of mine, driving around DC at 4 a.m. when the car sprung a flat. An incredibly sweet cop helped us get back on the road. We were stopped by another cop who just wanted to make sure we were all right. He was such a hottie. I was tempted to tell him I was hiding something and needed a good frisking, but I'm essentially a coward. Ah, well.

EUROPE

Germany - Stuttgart, Tuebingen, Kontstanz, Mainau, Blaubeuern, and several gorgeous train trips up the Rhine River

Netherlands - Alkmaar, Amsterdam, Schoorl, Delft, Rotterdam-Schiedam

England - London, Manchester, Hornsea, Birmingham

Scottland - Edinburgh, Arbroath

Wales - Rhyl, Denbigh

Overall impressions of Europe: the year I spent there was the best in my life. I'd return in a heartbeat, to visit or live, without hesitation. I've got so many stories from my year there, too many to go into in one posting.

No countries:( as of yet, Scotland and Wales are planned for next winter.

All US states except Washington, North and South Dakota, Minn. Oregon and Ca.

Born and raised in VA, went to college in FL, was in TX (twice) briefly.

Of the states that I have visited, AZ impressed me the most. It is truly a land of enchantment and contrasts. I spent 3 years, 2 months and 15 days at the Gila Bend USAF gunnery range, 2.5 million acres all told, back in the mid seventies. Lots of beautiful sunrises and sunsets,,, searing heat,,, reptiles that get into your house,,, and 50 mile vistas. A very interseting place all in all. Red Rock Canyon and Canyon deChey still provide fond memories of hikes and camping. Jerome is a revitalized ghost town with super nice folks and amazing houses.

My favorite place to visit on a more recent basis is Baltimore MD,,, the inner harbor is something that everyone should see. Best seafood in the country can be found in this city.

The Appalachain Mountains still hold my heart though,,, not born here, but I do live here by choice. The Blue Ridge Parkway has the most peaceful places that are perfect for observing nature and just unwinding.

The best seafood you ever tried is in Baltimore. That statement I can except. You've never been to the West coast, never tried the Almond Snapper in Seattle, the Crab Cakes in Portland or the Grilled Halibut on the wharf in San Francisco, so how can you say Baltimore has the best?
Actually I think we have the best in the country right here in the NorthWest. And yes I've tried it in Baltimore, although admittedly many years ago. Up here we specialize in three things: Logging, Seafood and Rain. Lots of rain.
Sorry I'm not trying to pick a fight, but just a little sensitive about what we have here. The truth is I'm breaking my own rule. Many years ago I decided to make it sound as miserable as possible up here. Rain all the time, slugs, moss, never seeing the sun that kind of thing. I was hoping to keep the fuzzy ass foreigners (anybody not native to the NorthWest) out. It didn't work. So yes I love this place. No I don't think the East Coast has the best Seafood, we do. A little arrogant am I? When it comes to the NorthWest, Abso-fucking-lutly!

Wow- they have trains on the Rhine now? Last time I traveled up the Rhine I had to take a boat! LOL.. it is still a pretty trip.

Countries:
Mexico
Canada
Jamaica
Hawaii (yeah, I know they think they are part of the states)
Germany (Born there. Visit as often as I can.)
France
England (Only London- I loved it.)
Holland
Belgium
Switzerland
almost Poland (took a left turn out of Berlin instead of a right)

States- probably 75% of them. Missing the New England area and the west between the midwest and the west coast.
I will be back in California for a vist in a few months. Also back to Minnesota next month and Florida in March.

*Laughs*

Sure, traditionally the train tracks are on the side of the river, but with the flooding they've had in years past... :)

Every state along the Atlantic coast northward through Massachusetts, so I've missed Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine on the East Coatst. I've been in every other state East of the Mississippi.

The only foreign place I've been was Dallas, TX.

Lived in Virginia (Petersburg, Lexington, and the Peninsula), North Carolina (Fayetteville and Lincolnton), Alabama (Enterprise), and Florida (Jacksonville and Orlando).

Favorites of those would be Lexington, Virginia, God I love the Shenandoah Valley and Jacksonville (though actually prefer St. Augustine).

I'm curious, you did not mention salmon and I always thought that fish was a specialty in your region? Also, the crab in those crab cakes probably came from Maryland. ;)
