Where have all the good editors gone?

I have politely requested the assistance of 5 (count it - F - I - V - E) editors this week and they have all ignored my requests. Maybe I just picked 5 editors who don't check their email, or maybe they all have been invited to particpate on some new, hip reality TV series. I don't know, but I would really like to receive assistance from some of the fine, fine editors out there who have willingly agreed to sacrifice their time to help us pitiful writers.

Here's the message I sent...

I am looking for a top-notch editor to review my latest Literotica submission. I was impressed with your editor profile and I wanted to request your availability to edit my story.

For lack of a better fit, this story falls into the “non-human” category. The piece is ~ 5000 words and is in MS Word format. It is a story about a man who starts receiving strange visits from “the perfect” woman who gives incredible blowjobs. His familiarity of his world deteriorates as the visits continue and he finds the price of the encounters is far greater than he could ever imagine.

I am looking mainly for grammar correction, but any advice on content would also be welcome. I have several other submissions on Literotica if you care to check on my style before answering my request – just search on user name adoniss.

Thank you for you consideration,

Adoniss

Maybe this request is far below the standards of the elite literotica editorial army. Unfortunately my publicist was too busy checking out customers at Walmart to write this request for me, so I was stuck doing it myself. As you have might have already gathered from this email, I am in serious need of editorial help. Take pity on me.

If there are any editors out there who would like to help me out, please, oh please, send me an email through one of my story posts.

Thanks for your time,

adoniss

PS - If you are busy because it is "summer"...

a) the weather is always the same indoors

b) If you like warm weather, move south

m'kay? thanks!

I held off a bit, because my MS Word is very unlikely to read a doc from your MS Word. So far its record is spotless-- not once has it read one.

If you can save it using the 'save as...' function and specify Rich Text Format, the italics and the high-order characters will be preserved.

Rename it with the extension *.rtf.

You can try sending it as a Word file, but I sincerely believe it to be futile.

That being kept in mind, let's do this thing. You are certainly welcome to contact nushu2, Lying Eyes, vella_ms, and wishfulthinking to ask what sort of editor I am.

I have to say that I find that odd. I have edited for about forty authors (Lit and technical) and never had this problem. I use Office 97, formerly on Win98, nowadays on XP, and have not had the problems you obviously get.

Yeah, I know

Snooper, I believe the copy on my machine at work is corrupt in some way. Maybe a pirated thing, I don't know. It was there when I got there, and the secretary before me was a very nervous person whom I had to coddle along while she explained the bookkeeping end of the job and her filing system. Computers as a phenomenon scared her.

I usually just say I don't have a copy of Word (actually Office 97), but I can, in fact produce documents that others can read.

If I get serious about writing, I may have to spring for a current copy of the program for my home machine, meepmeep, or the server at home.

Word compatibility

Cantdog,

Virtually all Microsoft programs are upward compatible which, unless I have my words confused, means they can read documents produced on earlier versions of programs but not necessarily those done on later versions.

So your Office 97 is sort of an e-dinosaur.My machine can read it but your machine can't read my .doc files. Simple as that...or is that 'downward' compatible. Never did get that straight.

How you doin' otherwise?

Bill, I met this kid while he and my daughter were both in high school. He developed a brotherly relationship with her-- the big brother she never wanted, she said-- and was willing to accept me as a fellow human and not merely somebody's dad. We hit it off, but not always well.

Especially since he turned 25, though, we have come, he and I, more and more to value each other's insights, the texture of each other's mind, if you follow me. He genuinely seeks wisdom.

I drove his stuff out to Chicago when he followed a girl out there. Non stop from central Maine to Ashtabula, Ohio, with his futon rolled in a tarp atop my car like a humongous burrito, then Chicago before dark from there, with the car heeled over in the wind off the plain. His woman, a striking actress, received us in the city and moved in with him later that year.

I spent a night on her floor on a mattress and one at his new apartment on the deployed futon, and drove back. Somehow, I only went to visit once the whole time he was there, and he came home to see his parents twice.

Now he's back and the girl will be married to him this Saturday. I'm a notary, which in Maine means I can perform marriages; I'll be officiating.

He's got a job in Merrimack Theater in Lowell, Mass. It is now easy to visit one another, and we've reconnected brilliantly, when he's at a romantic and career high point and I am maturing in ways I never suspected could happen.

Life is great. I'm tighter with my wife than ever and learning much about what's really important in this life.

Yourself?

I'm glad my whiney post sparked some interesting conversation between friends.

BTW - as a note to the Literotica writing community - cantdog edited my story and did an excellent job. Kudos!

Cantdog - enjoy the wedding this weekend and blessings to your family.

Peace, out.
