Where do you fall in the Pew Political Typology?

Faith and Flag Conservatives: Who they are

Faith and Flag Conservatives are the oldest typology group. Two-thirds are ages 50 and older, including a third who are at least 65, while just 8% are under the age of 30.
So, they're dying off.

And thanks to them you can be a woke socialist. :)
No thanks to them -- even in the GI Generation, they're negligible clowns.

That was a generation that had some politically relevant Reds in it -- real Americans!

According to my results, I'm "Democratic Mainstays," which is funny as I'm a registered independent and I do have some key policy differences from the Democratic Party, just several more differences with the GOP.

I definitely grew up a "Faith and Flag Conservative," though I drifted more toward the center and eventually toward the left as I got older. Yeah, I was the paradoxical opposite of the conventional wisdom of the young liberal who becomes more conservative over time. I started out as a young, conservative firebrand (part of the whole Newt Gingrich brand of Republican when I cast my first ballot in the 1994 mid-terms) and became more progressive over time instead. Hell, I was a Bircher at one point.

Two consistent themes and attitudes have always stuck with me, over the course of my political evolution: mistrust of the elites/establishment and skepticism toward most foreign military adventures.

Establishment Liberal. I used to be more progressive until the hard left went off the deep end with hating America. I still think a vigorous liberal United States is the best hope for saving the world from climate change and rising totalitarianism.

I was expecting the same, for the same reason, but it marked me Progressive Left. I don't really object to that, but it does occur to me that I disagree very strongly with others who identify as such on a few hot-button issues.

Democratic Mainstay, which I feel is pretty accurate. Funny that in my mind that seems conservative, which I’m far from being. The survey also doesn’t really address environmental issues, which rank extremely high for me

I see there's no distinction for an anarchist who appreciates their pumpkin spiced latte given to them promptly through a drive-thru at 8am with a topping of whipped cream and a smile so I will be moving on thank you very much.

The problem here, once again is presenting a polity that is on an x-y axis instead of graphed against and x, y, z cube of political octants:
a fiscal axis
a religious/belief axis
and
a strength of government axis

Inversely,
I am for strong local governance and weak federal governance
My religious views skew towards the unbeliever
Taxes are not charitable contributions.

The Federal Government has little or no role in my life, it is merely the external symbolic gateway to the American people for foreign entities, governments, trading partners or peoples.

My enemies are those who seek to strengthen and embolden The Central State at every opportunity for that s the road to tyranny; the consolation of power. The real problem with these people as enemies is every thing they do to us, they do in our name, in our best interests and only for the wellbeing of the common weal. It's hard to fight back against someone who immediately then sees themselves as the innocent victim!

But, I'm the government and I'm just here to help!

I'm not on their little fucking chart.

I rarely am.

My answer to most questions like those is "something else."
A penumbra

As our Vice-President would say, that which is yet unseen, but seen with a clarity never before seen.

🤩

Hmmm, Cubism . . . .

Mostly, yes. No differences enough to quibble over.

It would be nice if the feds were required to behave as though they had/have some fucking sense.

Look, just so you know, I feel all unburdened by that shit. Do you want to see the Venn diagram???

The voters abdicated that responsibility long ago...

I think it was during the Nixon-Kennedy debate.
