Yep. I think I am gonna finally do it. the last time my hair was shoulder length was half my life ago. I have debated doing this for a year and I think I am gonna do it. It will always grow back. If I want it long again it will only take 2 or 3 years and by then the kids should be old enough that I will have time for my hair again.

It is just such a pain in the ass and takes so much work to keep up butt length curly hair. Being at home with lil kids all day I can't keep it down, so it stays in a bun on top of my head. I get to wear it down when we go out once or twice a month.

I wanted to donate it to locks of love, but I heard they won't take hair that has been chemically treated. I do add some red to bring the fire back into it, especially in the winter when I don't get in the sun at all.

So, does anyone know where you can sell about 2 feet of hair?

Bloody good question. I had waist length hair too so I know what a pain in the ass it is to maintain. So I chopped it and I concidered selling the braid but I don't know who buys hair. Gene Simmons looks after it now.... Uhm... Long story.

I think long hair is easier to maintain than short. Usually with short styles, you have to put more time into styling it. I bet you'll miss the ease of being able to put your hair up, kitty.

I was going to suggest to donate it

but I see you already thought of it. Check about there might be other places that needs it. Another far fetch idea what about E bey. One never knows what will sell on there. Also an engine search might give you some ideas. Good luck with finding an owner of your hair. I hope it goes to good use.

Peace,
Tulip

I really have no idea where you would sell it, but as beautiful as your hair is, I am sure someone will want it!

My daughter donated hers to Locks of Love, but I didn't realize about the chemically treated part. Perhaps try an internet search on quality wig making companies?

Locks of Love

I know you can donate it to Locks of Love. They use the hair to make wigs for cancer patients.
I'm gonna find their website and check into what i have heard. If they take chemically treated hair, that is definately what I will do.

Ruby, I understand what you say about styling and all, but my hair is spirally curly and nothing can be done with it any way. All I do is just get a small clip and pull it up from the front and sides of my face. I never have been one to spend time fixing my hair. When it is this curly there is nothig you can do with it anyway. With it being this curly and this long the tangles are horrendous. It take any where between 20 min and an hour to comb it out with conditioner in it in the shower. I don't dare brush it dry. I still lose a handful of hair everytime. I sit on it, it gets caught in doors and car windows, and when it is down I get tangles bigger than my fist. When I do have it down I have to use ethnic care serum to keep the curls together and the tangles down and it takes half a bottle. I am ready for a change.

I had my hair that short when I was 12 and it was great. I remember when my mom cut it all off my head felt so much lighter, I only had to use a small amount of shampoo and conditioner rather than a whole handful, and when I got out of the shower I could take a towel and rub my head. It felt so wonderful. now I have to take a bath sheet to wrap my hair in and be so careful not to rub it. I am sick of high maintenance hair. I need a break.

Thanks, Rubes. I haven't had coffee and jumped the gun on posting before I read the whole first post.

I'm sure your hair is fit for donation.

HAIR DONATION GUIDELINES

We accept 10" minimum hair length (tip to tip), not wigs, falls, or synthetic hair
Please bundle hair in ponytail or braid
Hair needs to be clean, dry, placed in a plastic bag, then padded envelope
We need hair from men and women, young and old, all colors, and all races
Hair may be colored or permed, but not chemically damaged (if you're not sure, ask your stylist)
Hair swept off the floor is not usable
Hair cut years ago is usable as long as it has been stored in a ponytail
Hair that is short, gray, or unsuitable for children will be separated from the ponytails and sold at fair market value to offset the cost of manufacturing
You may pull curly hair straight to measure the minimum 10"
The majority of all hair donated comes from children who wish to help other children
Layered hair may be divided into more than one ponytail for donation

Wow, 10 inches huh? Hell I could make 2 donations with my hair I have a good 24 inches that will be cut off.

I had my hair cut off sometime in the past 2 months. (I can't believe I can't remember exactly.) Anyway, it has been liberating! I get up, wash, blow dry and go. Yesterday I had to pick up my scooter after having it serviced. It was raining so I didn't shower first because I knew I would want to climb in the minute I got home from the wet ride. The lady at the shop said "Didn't you have long hair?" I said yes. The guy standing next to me said, "Wow, it looks great!" I think he was genuine. It is much nicer under the helmet, too. It doesn't get helmet haired quite as bad. All in all, I am happy with it.

My hair is straight. I think curly hair would be great short, especially if you have a hairdresser that knows how to cut it right.

So enjoy!

I want to see a picture, Buttons.

kitty, a friend of mine has curly hair like yours, same shade too, and she's had some really cute short cuts.

I went red yesterday. Mahagony. I'm not sure if I like it.

Well, I don't blow dry, and I don't go to salons. :( Too expensive, besides I was never good at trying to figure out what hairstyle would look good on me. I just have a friend cut it all the same length. When it is long I have to get iun the shower and flip my head upside down, comb it out, then grab it and pull it up with one hand and cut it with the other. You don't have to be so picky when it is curly. ;)

The deed has been done. A weight has been lifted too. Who knew hair weighed so much?

God this is a sad thread.... I hate to see a woman cut her long hair. :(

Well, I just got it cut a few hours ago. My neighbor came over to do it. i am gonna mail it in to Locks of Love after it dries. It is still wet from my shower last night. Oh, and pics will be here later tonight or tomorrow morning. ;)

yeah, I don't think my boyfriend is happy about it at all. My hubby said he could live with it if I dye it and make it redder.

This is why I hacked my hair off. Mine is the same as yours. It's uber-short right now and aside from getting used to it hanging in my eye because it's too short to pull back I like it.

I'm letting it grow back out of course, and I dont regret doing it. It's growing out shinier and healthier as well. The friggin curls are all wild though.

Do you like your new cut?

You nobviously decided you are not having muppet babies

I mourn for you.
