do you asume it's a man? a woman? or do you hold off until you read the post?

I've noticed that I asume it's a man until I read otherwise.

Ditto... maybe the post might persuade me its a woman writing it but generally i assume its all guys

Sometimes I'm just afraid to read them at all! I think most of the nasties are guys, but you can't always be sure.

I assume it's a coward and ignore it.

Good call. It's tough for me to ignore it if the post is attacking someone I'd consider a friend though, so too often I get into bitch-slapping contests with them.

For some reason I assume male as well, especially if it's a troll post full of nastiness, but that's not right, I know. Why is that? It bothers me that I make that assumption.

Doesn't bother me. I always assume women are braver and more honest.

Don't be bothered by it. Here's why.

A lot of us have backgrounds in chat. It's been a long time since I've chatted, but think back with me. This especially holds true for Yahoo chat and probably AOL too.

Think of all of the "A/S/L" or "Anyone wanna cyber?" or "If you wanna fuck, type 666" or <enter your own obnoxious one-liner here> type entries that are made. I'd guess that about 90-95% of them are from guys.

I tend to look at unregistereds along those same lines.

I don't assume FOR SURE that it's a guy, but I tend to figure with pretty good certainty that it is.

you mean they were guys    damn I need mouthwash now

I asume it is a man and he is registered but post nastiness as unregistered..... so I try to figured out who it is by the typo or expressions.

I am curious as to why in matters if the person is male or female?

It doesn't matter if the person is male or female, but like sigh said it bothers me that I do make an assumption. I just wanted to see if anyone else thought along the same lines.

I hold off until I read the post. If I see a thread by "Unregistered" I usually do not open it unless it is obvious that it isn't a Troll. If it is a post in someone else's thread and it is a troll I ignore it and make no assumptions.

I never assume...

its either male or female. Pure and simple biology 101.

I read the post first.

Not all of the unregistered posts are bad.

But it seems that sometimes you can tell from the way the words are typed that it is male or female.

I try not to assume. They are unregistered for a reason, they don't want you to know. It doesn't matter to me if it's a question, insult, comment or whatever, they don't want us to know who they are.

I don't really care to know either. The assaholic posts I will ignore, the question/comments I'll try to respond to as best as I can, if I can help at all.

I had never thought about it before, but I do normally think of the unregistered trolls as men. If its a reply in someone elses thread or a thread with a legitamate title I don't assume untill I've read it.
