Participate? Ignore? Listen but not spread? Or something else?

I probably fall in line closest with the 3rd. I listen out of curiousity and entertainment but rarely do I actually tell someone else what I was or wasn't supposed to hear....and actually making gossip a regular occurence in my day has never been my thing.

I'll listen but never contribute. If the gossip is spread about my friend I will step up and defend them and inform my friend about it. But if it is not harmfull, I wont interfere.

I discovered I was in possession of a piece of gossip the other day. I didn't even know that what I knew other people didn't know, and when I did find out I knew what could be considered gossip (which I'd known for about a year) I didn't have any inclination to share it around, not that I was sharing it before then anyway, but when some people know something that isn't generally known, they tell everyone they know.

So I go for whats behind door number 4. I don't recognise gossip when its right in front of my face.

i learnt when i was young that if anything is said to you in confidence it is meant to stay that way

the dilemma arises when someone needs to know something that they dont already know (play the situation by ear is my approach)
