Does anyone else get excited when you are someone's first? ...basically when someone makes a new account specifically to follow you and your stories.

It always makes me feel like my work is appreciated.:)

Anyone else feel similar or have other positive fan interactions?

Whenever I see that I'm someone's first follower, I send an email through Feedback thanking them for being the first.

 that thought had never crossed my mind. That’s a really thoughtful way to welcome and thank someone!

I don’t look at my account activity much, but now I’m going to start paying more attention to when someone follows me.

Nice touch, contacting them. Followers and favorites mean more to me than a story rating. I've had a few ask how to set up an account, so that they could follow me. It does give you a dose of pride. Which, of course, the next foul spiteful email dulls. LOL, life goes on.

Yes. Followers are always very interesting to Literotica authors. Are they into the same things? Do they write stories? Which of my characters are they like, or which ones made them favorite, rate, or follow? What else do they like? What is in their lists, who are their other favorites/followers? Have I missed some good reading somewhere?

I don't even know when I get a follower. How do you know? Do you get an email or some notification? How would I know I was the first person they were following?

I'm notified on my author page when someone starts following me as an author. There used to be a notification when they unfollowed you too, but I don't think that's happening anymore.

I don't respond directly to these as they happen. I figure that if someone wants direct contact they'll directly contact me. Otherwise I think it makes me seem a bit needy for more attention from them then they've offered.

It shows up as a notice in your CP dashboard. "X' has started following you.

Followers are the key to success. They are the faithful who get a notice of the new story I just posted. I just wish I had more of them – but the more I do get the more activity each story garners.

Now, Favorite Story I'm not sure of. Maybe it's just me being insecure, but I always go see their list of Favorite Stories — Talk about hoarders! Did they really read all of those, or just collecting them? Wait, maybe they are one of those story thieves and I've been robbed  I just don't know

But what if I really am a bit needy — and I don't care if they're freaked out :D

That, or when they're already following a bunch of good authors so I can tell myself "this one has good taste".

We all have our own peculiarities. ;)

Et tu Ruben? You too think I have peculiarities now  In the midst of a world crisis, my friends have turned on me — spurned me in my hour of need

(okay, I promise to quit turning serious thread conversations into a platform for my joking — I'm soooo ashamed  )

Yes, it gives me a little warm feeling when I see someone has started a new account and I'm the first author they've followed. I've had several readers do that.

Or when a Follower's list is quite short, and I'm one of a select few - especially if I find myself in good company ;).

Confession: whenever I get a new follower, I usually check to see who else they are following. It makes a difference! :)

I don't think I've ever looked to see who else someone favs.

One tip to anyone trying to contact someone who followed or commented on a story...a lot of people set up lit accounts with toss away e-mails they don't bother going back to, so they may never see your message.

Going back to what Keith sad, they used to show the broken heart when someone stopped following you, but they got rid of that as apparently it was too harsh and hurt people's feelings.

I always look to see who else someone favours, because I only started posting stories in an attempt to find people who like similar ones. It's worked rather well!

Out of curiosity, why do you feel it makes a difference who else they follow?

Even though I have paid for my groceries with the product of my pen for almost 60 years now, I am still a little surprised when someone else likes what I have written.

The stuff that I 'publish' here on Lit is (mainly) erotica to my own taste. So when someone 'favourites' me, I like to see who else they have 'favourited'. If I am in the company of writers I respect, that is reassuring. If I am in the company of semi-literate pornographers, I take myself out to the woodshed and give myself a good talking to. :)

I'm just thankful I have any. I don't care who else they're following.

Same. I'm constantly amazed how many views I have and the scores! People like my writing!

Also, I never visited the site before I started posting, so I don't know who's good. Apart from the lot here... ;)

I always look at the profiles of people who favorite me, mostly to get some idea of why they did it. With long spans between stories, and only very rare comments to go on, I usually don't know what brought them my way.

They're usually either Romance readers or I/T readers, or both. I might be wasting time with EC, Sci/Fi and other categories I post to.

Whoops

I did something like this recently. Someone added Chapter 1 of my series to their favorites. Then an hour later, Chapter 2. Then... etc. up to Chapter 5 over five hours. It was clear they were reading right through my series and favoriting each one, which was a great feeling.

I sent them feedback through their profile, "I'm glad you're enjoying my story, I see you are reading through it!" Then about ten minutes after I sent it I through "Jeez, I bet that was really creepy."

Too late. Oh well.
