Started a conversation with someone in public while standing in line or sitting waiting for a service?

Walked over to your neighbors and just talked about what was going on in life?

Offered change to the person ahead of you in line who seemed to be a bit short?

All the time, I'm too sodding sociable :)

Neighbours - I live in an apartment block so I see at least one of them each day

Change... Usually I'm the one that's short *blush*

I do that last one quite often

I live in the heart of Dixie...people are like that here. If you see your neighbor out in their yard, you go talk. Talking while waiting in line is a definite given, no matter where you are. And, especially out where I live, you wave when you pass someone going down the road, whether you know them or not.

I try and talk to people when I am in line...and jsut this past week my mother in law and I had a nice chat with some people who we sat next to in a restaurant. We all agreed that not enough people try to make "nice" with others.

But then I realized when I was growing up I knew my neighbors. It was nothing to walk over and chat, invite them over for a BBQ...borrow items. Now I don't know my neighbors...except that they are all older in age.

I always lend change in line though. You never know when it will be you who needs that.

hehe. Probably the last time I was in such a line. The most recent time I recall conversing with strangers in a similar situation was the last Thursday in July while we were waiting for a table at a restaurant.

I wave and say "Hi", but that's about it.

Always. I also offer to trade places with those behind me that have but a few items compared to mine.

I am really social. When new people move in I go over and introduce myself and my kids offer water or lemonade while they are unpacking. Give them my number so if they need help or anything they can call. I also am known for talking to random strangers about htings from money to child raising. I have often been short on change and can't remember a time I have given anyone some, but I do recall this very poor little boy who so badly wanted power ranger pencils for school an dhis mom(in torn clothing and flopping soled shoes) told him she couldn't get him those but maybe someday. I gave him three dollars to get his pencils. I try to help where I can. I give free baby sitting and food. Money is a pleasure I rarely have, but time and things I can do.

What she said. :D

I do it all the time or if I am walking down the street I smile at people when they are looking at me.

My SO thinks I am flirting with people, but I know that I am just being friendly.

Yeah, that's pretty much me all the time. It's not all that common where I live now (Milwaukee) but it's a way of life in Iowa, where I'm from.

I took my best friend home with me last fall to visit my friends and family and she amazed to find an entire city full of people like me; super friendly, determined, living in the moment kind of people.
