Ok, here i have a possibly silly question, but then I am a virgin here. Anyhow, I am wondering, should I wait until the entire story is finished, or if I am having a problem with the start of my story, is it a good idea to send the beginning to an editor? I'm asking because I want to know if I am developing my characters well, and if I'm using too much "fantasy" and need to add a bit more realism. Well anyways, I would greatly appreciate some input on this.

and then I go and make a typo in my thread title!

A lot will depend on the editor(s) you choose and how they prrefer to work with an author.

My personal preference was always to see a completed story, or at least a completed chapter.

However, if your story is going to be a long story and changes at the beginning will require an extensive rewrite of the whole story, then an editorial opinion might be a good idea.

Send queries to about a dozen of the volunteer editors describing what you need and ask their feelings on editing a partial story.

Thank you WH. This will be the firt story I send to an editor, and I'm kind of cringing about it, but excited at the same time. I wish I had discovered this earlier. Your all so helpful here. :D
