Between college and law school, I worked as a manager at a coffee shop for a summer. My friend Chris was a manager in the a joining bookstore. He was smart, funny, a great kisser with amazing blue eyes.(The picture in the video doesn't do him justice.) He was always the life of the party and sounded like Billy Corgan when he sang.

Two years ago, a teenager decided to steal a pair of tennis shoes. Chris was the security guard. The boy unloaded his gun into him. The kid went on to run a mini-crime spree including shotting a 9 year old in the face.

Today, I check my email. A friend from back home sends me this link:

Why is it made all the more fresh and worse to see the little prick shows no remorse? I seriously want to see this little asshole in pain. I'd be happy with a little fucking remorse.

Anyone, I'm having a moment and this just feels like the safest place to vent.

I remember leading my Outward Bound kids on the AT in VA that summer and hearing the reports of this on my TR. I remember thinking, 'that stupid punk has no idea what he's done and will never regret it'. Its so sad to find that I was right.

I am so sorry, Aria, for your loss. My prayers go out to you and Mrs. Davis, her family, and the other victims' families.

I am really, really sorry for your loss and for the boy's lack of regret...

Thanks all. It just amazes me the lack of any reaction from the kid. I feel so bad for his mom, his widow and his children. I lost a friend. They lost a family member over some shoes.

Jeez, makes me wonder...

It's amazing how much damage one emotionally retarded person can do these days.

While I know it is no consolation... There is none to losing a friend senslessly..
I live about 20 miles from the prison where that fellow is incarcerated...In fact, I applied for a position there once...
Believe me...It isn't a place where you want to be till you are 81...

Unfortunately unless some laws that protect the lawless are changed the worst is yet to come.

As many of you know I work in Forensic Psychiatry and see some really emotionally dysregulated people on a daily basis whom voice no remorse for their crimes.

Be afraid...be very afraid...take action...call congressmen and state representatives get the laws we need. Call them today...tomorrow...every day.

Just MHO

What type of legislation would you suggest?
