Is It Ever Just Coffee?

I feel like you don't really understand what I want to offer you.
I feel like you don't really understand the person I want to be for you.
It's not about the amount in dollars and change reflected on the cashier's display.
It's not about the time I waited in line.
It's not how many calories you pretend not to waste when you ask for extra whip cream or mocha drizzle.
It's not about the secret recipe I asked for.

It's an invitation not for you to meet me across a round table in the windy downtown city-scape, but to get to know you and for you to get to know me.

Is it ever just coffee? No.

I want to be your cup of coffee.
I want to warm your soul.
I want to be the reason you are able to leave our web of cotton sheets in the early morning hours.
I want to leave a lingering taste in your mouth for hours.
I want to be the reason your hands shake after you've finished off too much.
I want to be thing you have to have everyday to truly feel alive.
I want my kiss not just to stain your mouth, but your heart.
I want to ease your tired body and your tired mind.
I want to make you happy.
I want to leave you ready to face the world.
I want to be your addiction.

I want to be your cup of coffee.
