Have you ever applied for a job just for the hell of it? Not really wanting it, but tossing out your resume to see what comes back? A fishing expedition, if you will.

I've done that, and now I think this company is interested. Eep. I don't know whether to be pleased or afraid I'll actually be offered this job.

Has anything similar ever happened to you? How did you deal with it?

This is a good problem to have. :)

You're right. I probably sounded like a whiney brat. It just seems like a huge problem when maybe ...it's not. It's all about perspective, eh?

If they offer better money than your current employer, you can always use thast as raise leverage--if you'd truly be willing to move if it didn't work.

Maybe it's fate. :rose: But, then, I'm a bit of a romantic, that way.

Very true. If they offer more money --or even just the same-- I'll probably take it. I've heard the working environment in this company is the bees knees.

Maybe it is! I think I'll just go with the flow, and see where I end up. :)

Yeap...

I had a cherry shift at my job... 4 10 hour shifts from Saturday night through wednesday night... kinda work I could wash the company stench from me as soon as I walked out the door.

They put up my present job posting and I only applied because the only other applicants were people I thought were just kids.

The director jumped on me with both feet and I haven't seen the light of day since.

It's worked out... mostly.

I did that four years ago, just on a whim, well they called me in for an interview and I took it and I'm still at it, turned out to be one of the best jobs I ever had.

I became a fireman. The gig lasted twenty years, and I collect the pension. All's I did was take a civil service exam.

That's how I got my old apartment. It was a bit too big, a bit too modern and in a bit too fancy neignborhood for my budget, but I went on and signed up for bidding just for the hell of it...

...just when everyone else who was interrested found better options...and the owner decided he wanted to sell presto. So I got the place for much less than market value, but still just about as high as I could stretch it.

All I made went to rent and interest. Had to live on leftovers for half a year until I got a raise at work, but it was worth it.

That's how I got my girlfriend...

"I'm doing pretty good. Got a nice girl, I'm in a fine... well, hello there!"

Well, it's good to hear it worked out well for you folks. Maybe this is a case of serendipity smiling than karma backfiring?

I'll keep you posted.

Only sexually ... and only after too many Amaretto sours. I solved it in a way that I don't recommend in your case: I puked on his shoes.

?

I was headhunted for a position about 12 years ago that initially I did not want. The guy was so insistent and generous I eventually took it. It was a reorganisation project and ironically 6 months later I ended up by firing the man(along with some others) who had been so keen for me to take the job.

He was easily discouraged. :D

Update:

Starting tomorrow and ending on Thursday of next week, I will be interviewed a total of five times for this job. There will be individual one-on-one interviews as well as interviews with a panel or group.

Oy vey. That's a lot of hoops to jump through if I don't get offered this job!

Any chance they'll want you to relocate to the Northeast?

Just asking.

No relocating, but more travel opportunities, definitely! ;)

Nah... if they don't like, all of sudden the other interviews will be 'unnecessary'.

;)
