I have PCMatic for that.

I have a program that takes out the trash and stuff and checks for updates for everything but it seemed to miss three updates that I had to manually install separately and the software removal tool...that spyware thing from Microsoft.

I check up on things every three months or so and my anti virus program...sometimes the live update gets turned off or in just doesn't download the updates like it should.

And after that I run a complete scan.

It's a Mac.
It's not as susceptible to things.
I don't download anything, ever, so chances are ... slim to none.
Plus I buy a new computer every other year and sell the old one.

My Windows machine is updated at Microsoft's discretion although delayed 30 days. Hate it as Microsoft gets it wrong all so often and forces you to accept their errors.

My linux machine that does not access the Internet except to update, runs the services I installed only gets updated periodically.
