Regardless of what you have done - right now - at your relative age and experience - when, what age - do you think is best to have children?

20-25 because now when i look a head i will be ready to almost retire when they finally leave home

When ? ................thats obvious when there someone elses, and you can give em back thats when.

20-25, gives you plenty of time to think of what you want to do with the rest of your life. Im 22, so ive got 3 more years to go before i start to even think about it.......

um .. uh .. er ...

well, I'm 31 and my wife is 27 and we've been married for 4 years and she is "hinting" (writing it on a brick and throwing it at my head would be more subtle). And I'm looking around saying "wha?? so soon?"

then again, I also play with leggos, collect comic books and star wars figures, watch cartoons and never spend less than one full hour in Toys R Us. damn,m she's got me! what does she need MORE chilins for??

I had my first son at 25. I had my LAST son 8 years ago at 38.

Somewhere between those ages is probably best. Although my youngest son is a MUCH better child than my older boys were at that age. Most of the people I know, who had children when they were over 35, had the sweetest, most well adjusted kids...

I love kids

Their so cute when they whine and complain, then go home with their parents. NEVER!!! Not that I weant to deprive myself of sex.

Between 25-30, they way you have had a hell of a lot of life experiences so it is time to think about having kids and raising a family.... and I have two years left in me for that, oh- just great.

I voted 40+

BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING NOW SINCE I THE RESOURCES SO THAT [whoops, caps lock, I am not shouting] she or I will never be wanting for anything, plus I rescued a bright star from that hellhole that is China. 2.5 years and speaking three languages. I love her more than life itself and I have the time to enjoy her since I am retired!

Right ON Tabby!! A committed relationship is essential! 25-30...for women, anyway. Enough time to finish most college careers...young enough to avoid all those icky late life prenatal care issues!

Probably when I pop one out.

I want one before 30, actually.

I guess right about now, because that's when I got one. My niece, actually, but now she is legally mine. At least I am old enough (37), to have some resources and time for this.

Anytime after you are married.

so, two people that aren't married can't successfuly bring up a happy, healthy child?

Absolutely. Take 'em out to a day of fun, fill em full of soda and junk food and sugar, get em all hyper, and send em back to the parents. 100% guaranteed to make sure you're never chosen as babysitter again.

Actually, I think I'm about to end up in a ready-made family, just add the wife (me). So kids might be optional.

The question was when was the best time to have children.

I selected 25-30 because now I sort of wish I had a couple more years before I became a mommy though I wouldn't trade it for the world now and my husband wanted kids before he was to old to enjoy them. I became an instant mommy to old kids within the past 3 months that is an adventure when you aren't much older then them.

Maybe what is best for one is not best for another.

In that case, I would have to say the best time would be between 8-midnight weeknights. Or starting around noon-ish on weekends and lasting all day. ;)

Sometimes early morning and late night are good times too. And, if you can manage to sneak away during the middle of the day, that is also an excellent time to make babies. Did I leave anything out?

:D

Barb

You forgot right after getting home from the gym in the early evenings. After a quick shower and feeling rejuvenated, a little hubby snack before dinner is great.

I had my first at 25 and my second at 30. I was both emotionally and financially prepared at 25 to start my family. I'm pretty sure the second one was because I wanted to do something special when I hit 30. :p The age difference between my girls (7 and 2) can be difficult at times though. The oldest was the baby for so long, she can get a bit jealous at times.
