When I Was a Kid....

WIWAK I did not appreciate the amount of free time and length of vacations I had

When I was a kid I longed to be an adult as my problems felt mountainous.

Now I wish I was a kid again.

WIWAK I lived out in the country & loved seeing how many garter snakes I could find in a couple of hours (25-30 snakes). I'd put them in an old aquarium & play with them, then let them go. I love snakes

L:rose:

WIWAK summer lasted as long as all the other seasons combined - at least it seemed that way.

WIWAK parents regularly drunk-drove their kids around, and nobody wore seatbelts. I can remember laying on the ledge of the rear windshield many times.

Me too!! LOL!!
7 kids in a car (all we could fit)....and had to tell my dad to slow down!!
It's a wonder we made it out alive....

WIWAK if you could ride your bike no hands around the block you were good, on one wheel you were a legend.

<--I was a legend! :D

I had a 2-speed kick-back Schwinn Stingray and while 'up' in a wheelie I could shift gears and cruise for blocks. Thanks for the memory!

WIWAK, I had a different vision of what my life would be right now...

Also, I would be od'ing on sweet cereal and cartoons at this point of a Saturday morning.

WIWAK, my mother would kick me and brothers out of the house for fighting. When my Dad got home, he'd give us sparring boxing gloves and let us beat the shit out of one another in the front yard.

Whoever fought the hardest got to go inside to eat dinner first.

I was never hungry.

WIWAK I remember the whole neighborhood would get together every summer for football and baseball games and there would always be one big water gun/balloon war that lasted all day and we all went home soaked and shivering.

Now the kids barely know each other and never leave the house.

I love this story! WIWAK, we had sparring gloves (kid gloves, I think is the phrase), and I remember one summer we kind of had a tournament. I did not win. But you know, it was kind of fun.

I don't know if the latter is true, but I certainly remember the big football and baseball games (wiffle ball!!!), and the big water fight (it would start with squirt guns and water balloons but by the end it was buckets and hoses).

Thanks for the memories.

WIWAK I had a mad crush on Belinda Carlisle (and had no idea she was ever in a girl band)...

When I was a kid, I thought Shaun Cassidy was cute! Really? How third grade.
