When I Was a Kid....

WIWAK, I used to wander the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains for hours, and saw snakes, tarantulas, you name it, and my parents never worried. I never got hurt, never got lost, and was always home by dark.

The foothills I wandered are now subdivisions.
 
Wiwak my brother and I used to walk across the rafters of the barn like a tight rope. I would never let my kids do that today

McDonald's came in styrofoam. With the McDLT it kept the hot side hot and the cold side cold. Buger Chef and Chef burgers came in little plastic bags. Sighs remembering :)
 
the most exciting way of using technology was to make fake phone calls to fool people around...

have we really changed since then? ;)

WIWAK, I used to love the scary shows, including reruns of the scary shows. Twilight Zone reruns were cool, but Outer Limits reruns used to scare me more. The show, "Night Stalker" was out then and that used to scare me in a good way. I'd stay up late and watch reruns of this pseudo-scientific scary show called, "One Step Beyond" - that was about strange occurrences that were supposed to be true (now they'd be called urban legends). That also scared me. I enjoyed being scared at night...lol
 
WIWAK a sunny day meant dissappearing for hours and coming home with mud and grass everywhere.

Hey, I loved watching Outer Limits reruns late at night when I was a kid. Scared the shit out of me, but I loved it.

I set up my DirecTV machine to record all episodes if they ever show up. SciFy channel has them sometimes, and I get pleasantly surprised to find 6 or 7 shows recorded in a single day.

Did you ever see One Step Beyond? That was some creepy stuff. I got a DVD with some shows on it before, but as an adult, it was less scary and more strange....

I haven't seen Outer Limits in ages, I wonder if it would still scare me as much as it did.

I have never watched One Step Beyond, but if it's as creepy as you say it is, then it's definitely on my to-do list. Now I just have to find some big strong guy whose arms I can jump into....;)

It isn't really creepy...more like strange. Think of some strange urban legend you have heard of...and think of a 1960's black and white TV show that carries out the legend as fact...with an announcer who IS sorta creepy...lol...you have to order it online though...it is NEVER shown anywhere....

WIWAK - watched Outer Limits. Not as reruns. One Step Beyond - Boris Karloff Thriller - Alfred Hitchcock Presents - Twilight Zone...

All wholesome family fare.

No wonder my kids wonder what what wrong...

How about In Search Of..... with Leonard Nemoy? I just got the entire box set from Amazon and have been treating myself nightly!

Amazing Stories from the 80's? The re booted Twilight Zone from the 80's? Yep, got both of them as well!

WIWAK, my babysitter used to let me watch Dark Shadows when I got home from my 1/2 day of kindergarten. I used to have terrible nightmares about vampires. I named whole bunches of my dolls "Angelique." The scariest thing I was supposed to see was Scooby Do cartoons, right?
 
WIWAK I would come home after school to watch WGN...they had the greatest cartoons...
 
WIWAK we had VHF and UHF channels and it would depend on the antenna on top of the tv on what channels you could watch. If you moved them one way you got certain channels and another way you got different channels. :)
 
When I was a kid the remote for the VCR was attached to the machine, and you could sit more than 3 feet from it.
