Not sure why, but the other day I was bored and procrastinating on homework... didn't have a date, too lazy to work out... blah blah... turned on the t.v. and an episode of the show "Clueless" was on...

WOW... has there ever been a worse antithesis to quality television... I can't even imagine, but damn... just damn...

I was reminded of why I don't want to have children anymore... to raise a child in a world like this?

WTF?

Okay so I knew we had shit like this out there a long long time ago, but wow did this hit hard.

My question is, at what point did you realize just how much totally useless crap we have out there?

(Sorry to be so bitter... but dammit he won't KISS me!!! AHHHH just kiss me dammit!... see other thread)

Come on, are you going to tell me that you remember The A Team or TJ Hooker as fine television?
Knight Rider?
Scarecrow & Mrs. King?
Starsky and Hutch?
Alf?
Hart to Hart? (Really any of the 80's "character name" shows)
The Love Boat?
It's a Living?
Gimme a Break?

Shitty TV was hardly just invented.

I have two words for you: Cop Rock.

Let's give thanks ...

Yes, there is so much rubbish on TV these days. I'm from England and I can remember when there were only 3 channels to choose from. Mind you, not counting cable and satellite, there are only 5 terrestial channels to choose from today. The programmes weren't any better then, but the lack of so-called 'choice' might well have been a blessing in disguise.

My TV would probably be on right now if it wasn't for the Internet. Now we're all still sat 'watching' programmes, albeit of a different variety. One benefit now is that we can contribute to and have a say in the 'script'. Another benefit way beyond measure is that I am no longer faced with the task of wondering where I left the remote control.

you will never again respect me for this admit but...

Oh man Rissia... I really liked Knight Rider... *eep?*

Gilligan's Island was the precursor to Temptation Island. And they were all real, to me...

Okay but who was your fav?

I was always a bit partial to the professor myself... *fanning self*

Didn't have a favorite, but I did think that Gilligan and Skipper were more that just "bunk mates".

Ewwww...

Hey did I hear someone say that Starsky & Hutch wasn't quality television?!

LOL ... now there's something I can live quite happily without.

Yesterday I think? Pretty much happened overnight... one day TV was pretty much all at the quality of "I Claudius" then like that... *SNAP* - it all fell apart...

I've posted this before, but all TV fans must visit http://www.jumptheshark.com to find out where and when your favorite TV shows went wrong. From their web site:

Q. What is jumping the shark?

A. It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite television program has reached its peak. That instant that you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it the climax. We call it "Jumping the Shark." From that moment on, the program will simply never be the same.

The term "jump the shark" ... refers to the telltale sign of the demise of Happy Days, our favorite example, when Fonzie actually "jumped the shark." The rest is history.

MASH jumped many times, but always seemed to come back. Winchester was an improvement on the show, because it gave the Swamp an equal foil.

Laverne in Shirley jumped the first time they did an episdoe about Carmine dancing.

Yea! Radar MADE that show! I agree with you LL...

And sheesh... leave it to DCL to pretty up my thread with this "jumping the shark" business... lol

I agree about Radar, but I think it jumped ON the two-part episode when he left. Didn't Burghoff SUDDENLY age in those two episdoes? Weird.

YES exactly!! WTF was that all about?

They NEVER explain why they do that crap ... c'est la vie... such is Hollywood; what more is there to say?

I will say it again... I really liked Radar.

Sounds like an idea for a story you should write and post here... you and Radar... you can even call it...

Ready?

Oh... this is just too obvious...

RADAR LOVE!
