When and where do people read lit

I tend to read at night, but I own my business so if I want to, I can check in whenever. Usually I only check during the day if I have a new chapter out so I can see how it's being received.

I keep a pretty conscientious separation of work and smut. I look at Literotica when I'm home.

Sadly, since I have started writing (back in September), my reading for pleasure has dropped off dramatically. I tend to think that if I have time to read, I have time to write, and so I don't do nearly as much reading as I probably should. It's frustrating, because I'm sure there are a number of really good writers on this site whom I'm just plain missing out on.

My impression is that most of the reading is being done during the day--and therefore probably at work in many cases.

The amount of porn-surfing by those allegedly at work must be extraordinary. I remember a news item, perhaps within the last two months, about porn-surfing during working hours by staff at the United States Securities & Exchange Commission. The tip of the iceberg (or something else)?

As I am self-employed, I check out Lit periodically, by day or by night, as my whimsy takes me.

I may be asking this question in the wrong place, but I have noticed a trend in the numbers that just makes me wonder. When do people read stories from lit, and where? I've noticed that most of my hits happen during the work week and normally during working hours in North America. Now I realize that lit is a global board and people all over the world can access stories any hour of any day, but I'm still left with the following questions. Do people read stories when they are at work? If so, what kind of jobs allow them the opportunity to do this? And yes, this is an obvious plot bunny request; have there been any results from doing so? Just thought I'd ask.

It seems as if like you said a lot of my views/votes and comments come during the day. I have learned from corresponding with several of my readers that many read Lit on their phone rather than a pc. I suppose that way you never make the mistake of leaving the browser open in work.

Personally I don't understand this, as lets face is, we know why we read porn and I don't think I could fully enjoy it in work. My own theory is that there are the "anonymous" crowd and the other half doesn't know they read lit so they can't at home.

Personally I tend to read Lit most in bed so I can easily jack off when it get's hot.

@lovecraft - I think you have a point. Personally I can understand some people not liking there partners watching porn, but I would think that any reasonably open minded person should not have a problem with their partner reading erotic literature unless they really do it to excess.

Having said that the thought that alot of people out there would probably call my erotic literature filth is a turn on for me. Actually the real turn on is that they might call it filth in public but jack off to it in private LOL.

So, presumably self-employed folks, retirees, and college students would make up the bulk of the daytime readership. That's a lot of horny people walking around if we are doing our jobs right :).

On that note and the comment hottchic made what follows maybe the best PM I ever received especially because it is from another author (cute one at that) this was in reply to one of my stories I suggested she read.

I just started reading the Samhain story and would get so much further if I didn't have to stop every other page so I could shake my husband awake to abuse his body.

It is mind blowingly refreshing to see someone who is actually familiar the rituals, imagery and works of the late Anton LaVey. Clearly you either practice or are hell (no pun intended) on research. You nailed the details that only those who are familiar with the practices of the COS could appreciate.

For what it's worth... Mark should get the nod for sexiest male EVER on literotica.

Can't wait to read more, but I think my husband needs to get woke up, AGAIN!

NM

I' will take that all day-and night- long

That's a pretty awesome comment. Congrats on that.

The sole nom I got for a character in that category was for a supporting character who is based largely on a friend of mine. Hilarity hath ensued.

Thank you. "Mark" was originally nominated by Candlelight062 and backed up by Many Feathers which I took as a huge compliment. I did mention on my bio page that he was up for it and looking at the thread when the voting closed in February he had the most votes so will make the final four when the voting starts on May 1st.

Originally I didn't care about "winning" and have no idea if there is even a prize. However since then I have been told by several people that "Incest" never wins anything out side of it's own category. It gets heavily trolled in the special contests and it's fans usually never admit they read it.

So now I am very excited about possibly winning. The thing is if my counts were accurate (never know as far as alts go) Mark will be against 3 Jaz Cullen Vampires so unless her peeps unite behind one specific one I have a shot

If not it was nice to be noticed in my first year of writing.
