What's your voting ratio for your stories?

I'm not on AH much so forgive me if this topic has covered to death......

Question?: What's your votes/readers ratio on your stories?

My submitted stories have been real life experiences and sometimes can drag a little, so maybe they're not holding interest and the readers aren't finishing the stories.

I find that the few stories I've submitted have been in the single digit percentage range............

Seems shitty to me..........Does anyone else have such a low voting tally?.

I don't think it's you. Either that, or you and I both are having problems.

If you're talking votes divided by views, then yeah, mine's extremely low as well, but I think that's pretty normal. When I first starting reading the stories here (not writing), I didn't even realize there was an option to vote. Even if I had, I'm not sure I would have voted.

I have noticed that the more stories I write and post, the more votes I get. Maybe my reader base is expanding over time, and I know from my feedback that I have a few that read my stories as soon as they post (gotta love loyal fans!).

Don't look at it as purely a "vote" thing. Sure, they're great, but my pay is the feedback I get.

I believe the 'average 'vote/hit' ratio is around 0.3%. If you are achieving 1% or above, count yourself lucky.

My two stories are 0.26% and 0.86%. After the initial rush of votes whilst on the new list, voting has settled down to roughly 3% of hits.

Feedback is the most useful indicator of how well you story is being received, my feedback runs at about 30% of votes cast.

It's my only story posted, so I kept a record. I had seen this question before and wanted to confirm it by myself.

My experience was similar: less than 1%, often much less.

I moved the stories to a different board where the vote option is live at the bottom of the screen all the time the reader has the story up and I got between 1.24% (score 4.2) and 7.24% (score 4.4). There is no correlation between score and number of votes.

On yet another board I get between 0.66% and 2.43%. Again no correlation between score and number of votes but a close correlation between the two boards, both in scores and vote ratios. Now, if I could just work out why the top story for votes got so many and apply it to the ones that got high scores, BINGO!

Thanks guys/gals and no I don't consider myself lucky, lol. I've had over 73,000 views and I've not even had 1% voted in total. Maybe the people that like my subject matter aren't voters. Not sure. And not sure why I really care, but I do, lol.

And yeah, no fan base with my submissions being as sporadic as they are. My 1st sub was on 3/23/01 last one was 6/7/04 with only 2 between.

Well it's frustrating at best, lol. But I'm glad that there is an AH and other cool people that I can sound off too.

around 1% depending on subject. (some subjects have *Very loyal enthusiasts). Often dipping to .5 % in longer runs.

Another key ratio, is of voters, how many wrote a note of any substance. I find, again 1% (of the 1%). Depending on the topic.

I think that it all boils down to the fact that one in a hundred will take the time to vote in the first place. Seems to be a constant in all of my stories...average 1%. Doesn't matter if I have an H or if it is in the 3.something range. And for some strange reason...this hold true no matter where I submit stories.

It doesn't improve, either. I've had over 1 1/4 million views (over 29 pieces submitted), with a low of 0.19% (okay, for a 'How-to') and a high of 1.76%, average 0.60%.

I guess we just live with it.

Unlike Pure, I can't comment on the ratio of votes to feedback, but the 1% of 1% figure looks about right.

My Stories:

You seem to be doing better than I am. I have 88 submissions and the voters as a percentage of viewers for all those is .223%. The highest is a story of a woman having sex with her unicorn and it is .67%. Generally speaking, Erotic coupling and Group Sex get the lowest percentages.

I'm not sure what you mean by "single digit". If you mean between one and nine percent, I would consider that to be fabulous.

I just had a quick look at my votes and found that out of 205 stories only one goes below 4.00 in votes. Does that mean I'm doing well, I don't think so, I just think I have a select few who enjoy my stories, and vote accordingly.

The proudest I've ever felt where voting is concerned was having a book of mine reaching the number one spot and staying there for a week. Funnily enough, it was a non erotic story. Go figure. lol

No bar charts or pie charts. Excel tables to check on performance from time to time do the maths effortlessly. The use of the word "correlation" is because of a math background (years ago) and it means that I notice that as one number increases, so does another. Lack of correlation indicates the opposite.

Correlation does not imply cause and effect. There is a strong correlation between pocket money and shoe size among school children. This does not mean that parents pay kids more for growing bigger feet, nor that kids spend their money on foot size enhancements.
